BiPap and sleep Apnea

Post by usette » Sat Aug 05, 2017 9:40 pm

Problem: Statement of Problem: Dry throat and cough, some chest pain which I contributed to pleurisy of lungs or pleural membrane, cramping of hands and arms and legs waking me up during night at times. Equipment used: BIPAP Respironics INC, Model number: DreamStnautopap-HumHTcelldom, Intertek. Previous Bronchitis numerous times in past. Recently, I been on steroids for 7 days. Are these problems the BiPap or steroid problem?

A couple of times the Bipap runs a continuously flat without pulsing up and down. Is this a problem with the machine?
What are possible causes?

I have been on BiPap machine 3 weeks, 30 day therapy hours: 7.4, AHI 1 day-11.3, 7day-3.5, Mask Fit 100%, Periodic Breathing 2%

Ramp up pressure 16-20, initial implementation at 14 pressure

Any ideas appreciated?

There are going to be several things happening. you are going to need to get some sleepyhead charts up. also get the clinical manual for your machine. it's in english, so you would need to translate the model. the model numbers still should be the same.
http://www.apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap-p ... tup-manual

this gives a basic how to adjust pressures
http://www.apneaboard.com/dreamstation- ... structions

do you have ..
a nasal mask and mouth breathing or not enough humidity setting, for the dry mouth
any heart failure for the edema, or is it just the bronchitis

you should have 2 or 3 numbers
with manual you have epap and ipap..which is the 14?
Is the machine auto and has 2 pressure support settings and an epap
running flat is probably in the settings

with bronchitis I would keep the same epap and raise the min PS or increase the ipap to make breathing easier , then reduce it back when you are healed.

Pressure flat line is nothing to be worried about unless it flat lining at the upper limit. If it is, you need to raise your upper limit. When my pressure was set at 20 - 25, I would normally flat line at 20 most nights.

Growing old is mandatory, but growing up is optional.

Would need to see the detailed report to know for sure but I have seen a continuous flat pressure line when the machine should be auto adjusting and it was because of large leaks....really large leaks and prolonged.
