Shallow, yes. But so relevant to the way we feel.
Just find what works--ponytails, buns, pixies, etc.
Got to look in the mirror, girls--that should never be painful.
Sometimes it is. Then we visit the salon, grab scissors, whatever makes it right.

My hair is longish now, so I am putting it in a ponytail. Basically what I am doing with a hat when I am in the sun. Will cut it again in the fall.

If I am looking for something more stylish, I wash or wet it before styling.

A wet head and a blow dryer every morning may help

Not shallow at all in my estimation. Now, if it caused you to not use a life saving treatment, then that would be shallow. In and of itself attending to our appearance is not shallow. Would we tell a man who prefers to shave if they feel they look scruffy they are shallow? Would we tell someone who still prefers ironed clothes they are shallow? Would we tell the person who grooms their nails they are shallow? Would we tell the person who buffs the edges of their heels to remove some ashy looking buildup they are shallow? Hair can be a very real issue when using CPAP. When trying a different mask recently the hair on the top of my head was so matted in the mornings I knew permanent damage was accumulating. Wearing a ponytail was uncomfortable and also damaging, but necessary to help with the headgear sliding around. I had to wear a tight scarf to deal with headgear, but now thats it's hot again, I'm not eager to do that. With one mask I was getting a bald spot in top of my hed, and thanks to a PadACheek cover was able to mitigate the damage. Anything that hinders our CPAP experience is a valid concern. The best answer for me regarding hair and headgear was a tight scarf to protect the hair from the rubbing of the headgear. But I'm not dealing with that now as I'm using the TAP PAP which requires no headgear. It's a trade off, having something in my mouth as opposed to my head, but great that we have options.

Not shallow at all for some. A lot of professional women spend a lot to have their hair done at the salon.

You could try the Swift FX Bella. It goes around the ears instead of the head. Might get a bit hard on the ears over time, but it's something to consider.

My problem is different. My hair is so fine, the mask just slides. Too short to make into a pony tail or similar. The SleepWeaver masks stay put.

Not shallow; managing hair with cpap is a comfort issue, too. And kteague makes good points.

Other ideas for long hair management: braid the pony tail to keep long strands from tangling; use a flat hair clip to pin everything up--something that can be comfortable with headgear, keep the hair contained, and still be comfortable if one's sleep position ends up on the back (I use one of the older "African butterfly clips". Still available, I think; just google.)

OP doesn't specify long or short hair so I hope we gave you some ideas to work with.

A recently passed friend was quadriplegic from birth.
Her hairstyle was always a pixie--low maintenance hair to offset the high maintenance body.
Her humor and enthusiasm was infectious and she was an excellent role model.
We will all miss her; and thinking of her puts any vain thoughts into perspective.
Real beauty ALWAYS comes from within.

I have pixie-short hair, but like SewTired, it's fine, and sometimes the headgear shifts because of it. I've tried wearing a thin cap, almost like you would wear under a wig, under the headgear. My hair doesn't get pulled and the headgear stays in place, There are probably a variety of caps for sleeping and keeping a hairstyle that would work under headgear.

I wear an Original Buff (https://www.google.com/search?q=origina ... e&ie=UTF-8) underneath the mask headgear.

(I once laughed at Gramps wearing these, but after I also started using CPAP, I quickly converted.)

The little caps are a great idea.
Google "chemo cap" for ideas/ordering.
Some real cuties there!

Not shallow at all. I pay a lot of money for a treatment to straighten my hair and now I get creases in my hair every morning. I am only 3 month into wearing a cpap and I need another treatment. I can't crease, wear a ponytail or anything for 4 days after. I need to find a solution other than not wear my cpap for 4 days.
