BiPAP Pro 2 or REMstar Auto C-Flex CPAP

Post by clarenceh9 » Thu Feb 24, 2005 12:00 pm

I am confused. I am renting from DME the BiPAP Pro 2 since Jan 04, 2005, my IPAP IS 13 and the EPAP is 9. It looks like, from reading this board, that I would be better off on the REMstar Auto C-Flex CPAP? This would also be cheaper by $800.00 or so. Comments anyone / Wader?
What would I need, from DR, to get this vs the BiPAP?

If you are going to purchase from an on-line supplier, such as our host cpap.com, a prescription for a straight CPAP is sufficient to purchase a RemStar Auto with C-Flex. Give them a call, they are very helpful, and the prices can't be beat.

Why are you on Bipap? If it is for comfort, then you probably would be able to go with an Respironics Auto w/Cflex. If you have some other condition that REQUIRES Bipap, then no, you are obviously better off with a Bipap

I was put on the BiPAP Pro 2 because I could not tolerate the staight presure of a CPAP, as far as I know. What would other reasons be?

Technically a Bipap is considered a Ventilator. It can be prescribed for a number of different conditions. But if you think it is because of comfort (which is one reason) then you would probably do well on an Auto w/Cflex.

I'm on the bipap pro II also and I like the idea of the pressure relief from ipap and epap. The cpap is constant and you are exhaling against the air pressure. My settings are close to yours, 12/8. I know the machines are about twice as expensive as cpap but it works for me. I guess if my sleep lab had recommended a cpap with cflex I would have made it work too.

Hi Clarenceh9,

Wow someone in my neck of the woods! I am just up the road from you in Morgantown, so we are neighbors. Who is your doctor? Mine is Warren and he put me on a bipap machine also, he said because I could not tolerate my high pressure on exhale. I am at 18/14. If he is your doctor too, I wonder if he puts most of his patients on bipap? I have also been reading about the autopap w/cflex and it sounds great.

Gilda

You might want to get the software from cpap.com so you can monitor your therapy. It is $200, but it helps you know what is going on during the night. I.E. Mask leak, pressures, AHI, etc...
