I am new to therapy. I have been trying different masks and am making progress. I am interested in comparing results and comfort of airsense vs dreamstation. I am thinking of buying the dreamstation bpap so I can try a new algorithm to what i use for apap and also see if bilevel has any benefits for me.
Beside the cost and knowing ill wind up with two machines:
1. Do you see any health risk trying a bpap compared to apap?
2. I can use this bpap dreamstation in an apap mode if i find bpap uncomfortable?
3. Should i consider another model instead of dreamstation
I have an airsense 10 snd want to try dreamstation bpap
Re: I have an airsense 10 snd want to try dreamstation bpap
I would download sleepyhead and get some charts up for comment. More than likely, the cpap can be adjusted to your satisfaction. Or suggested to try a bpap, if anything stands out. even the auto bpaps aren't really plug and play, like the auto cpaps are.

1. No
2. Yes but only if you get the BiPap Auto model. The BiPap Pro doesn't have auto mode and you need auto mode for it to function like apap.
3. Not if you are wanting to experience different algorithms. The 2 main brands of bilevel machines are Respironics and ResMed. If you are wanting something different that pretty much leaves the choice to be the Respironics.
You can make your AirSense 10 machine function a bit by utilizing EPR...set it at 3...that's like 3 PS (Pressure support) in a bilevel machine.
Pressure support is the difference between inhale and exhale.

since when are auto cpaps 'plug and play'? if they were, a large percentage of the people in this forum wouldn't be here.ajack wrote:plug and play, like the auto cpaps are.

1. not unless you get crazy with the pressure support.doublev2 wrote:I am new to therapy. I have been trying different masks and am making progress. Re: I have an airsense 10 snd want to try dreamstation bpap
point taken and I bady worded it. I also said that " More than likely, the cpap can be adjusted to your satisfaction" I was actually trying to get across that an auto bpap out of the box, wouldn't be an easy answer and more than likely need more adjustment.palerider wrote:since when are auto cpaps 'plug and play'? if they were, a large percentage of the people in this forum wouldn't be here.ajack wrote:plug and play, like the auto cpaps are.

Re: I have an airsense 10 snd want to try dreamstation bpap
Thank you for the well articulated response. I know the mask is 90% of my comfort problems but I will give the dreamstation a try too as well as 2 more masks. I had 10 hours of sleep one day a week ago and it was amazing. The therapy works..l just need comfort. I am going to get this therapy dialed in.Pugsy wrote:1. No
