Discouraged

Post by Guest » Fri Jun 23, 2017 1:15 am

I was diagnosed in October 2012 with Obstructive sleep Apnea
Mild on my side and severe on my back. I have tried 3 different masks over the years and none stay on. The nasal pillow one Is less claustrophobic but I like to breathe with my mouth. I tried a chin strap, but did not work. I did not like the nose covered one at all. I am anxious with the full face one and sometimes feel like it's blowing too hard or not hard enough. I am exhausted all the time! I will lay 4 hours awake with mask on because of anxiety/uncomfortable. Help! I am ready to give up on it!

Welcome to the forum.

Please tell us about your machine and pressure settings. Sometimes, the doctors really don't understand how to set them for ideal therapy and/or comfort. It is possible that the settings are making the claustrophobic feeling worse.

Please tell us which full face mask you used and what problems you had with it. Have you tried a hybrid mask yet? It has pillows over the nose and a bubble over the mouth. It would be less over your nose than a nasal pillow, but still work if you open your mouth.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

Machine is Philips Respironics Remstar, System One. It has a humidifier on it and 0 through 4 for settings. I don't really understand the machine that well. I did one sleep study where I came back another night. Other than that, I just went to a store and bought a machine.
