I have been on CPAP for more than 11 years. Recently, after having been put on BIPAP with a new machine I have been getting horrible dry mouth at night. Waking up with no moisture in my mouth at all. Never had this problem before. I don't know if it is my dream machine or what. I need humidity, but I don't want heat. If I turn up my humidity to get some moisture I can image also getting heat. Does the climate control tube have any to do with heat/moisture in the mouth? Any ideas or I might just go back to my old resmed CPAP. Thanks for any ideas.

Re: Dry Mouth Problem
Thanks for your reply. Everything is exactly the same, except for the pressures for the BIPAP. My numbers are good. The last 30 days AHI was 1.4. I guess I will keep working at it. I drug out my old Resmed to try for a few days to see it it makes any diference?
Re: Dry Mouth Problem
Hi, try using biotène dry mouth moisturise spray before you go to sleep ( after all other food/liquids), and then again if you wake up. It has solved my problem of dry mouth ( I register no leaks using a pillow type mask). They also have a dry mouth rinse that you can use with this.

Things to try for your dry mouth:
Xylimelts - https://www.amazon.com/Oracoat-XyliMelt ... =xylimelts
Orajel moisturizing gel for dry mouth - Can't find a link that sells this as an individual product as it seems to be out of stock. But I wanted to mention it since some people on this site have had great success with it.
And of course, you could try out the Biotene Products to see if something, in particular, was helpful.
Best of luck.

Re: Dry Mouth Problem
I have been experiencing the same dry mouth/throat problems recently. Yesterday, I decided to go out and find a box of Xylimelts. I found them at a Rite Aid pharmacy, and they are available online from Amazon, Walmart, etc. I put one disc between an upper molar and my cheek, put on my nasal mask and forgot about it. The results were amazing for me. The disc nearly lasted through the night, and my dryness issue totally disappeared. I had the best single night of sleep I've had in many weeks. I'm sure this is probably a very subjective experience, but you certainly have nothing to lose by trying to incorporate this product into your routine. Prior to using Xylimelts, I had done various things during the week like taping my lips with Super Polygrip Strips; changing my humidity from auto to manual (6); and increasing my humidity from 81 to 83 to 85. The latter two adjustments (manual setting and increased heat) resulted in my first experience of "rainout," so I'm back to auto and 81 degrees. Taping my lips did not improve the dryness condition. So far, Xylimelts is the only thing I've found that has been really effective. Good luck!49er wrote:Hi Jeff, armyretired wrote:I have been on CPAP for more than 11 years. Re: Dry Mouth Problem
I've also used the Xylimelts and they do work well. I just had trouble getting them to stick in place. Now the Biotene spray seems to work well for me with less hassle. Try both and see what works for you. Maybe even a combination if the dry mouth us a difficult problem to overcome. Also - don't need leaks to have the dry mouth as both Sleepyhead and ResMed software report low to zero leaks.
