How to report Airing?

Post by GoodNightRest » Tue Jun 13, 2017 11:16 pm

Dear All,

I know... I was dumb enough to contribute to Airing in Indiegogo 2 years ago.
I tried to cancel it a year ago, but it's too late. Had been in touch with Indiegogo, it's a whole other story. Good thing is the amount is small.

Recently I moved, and they didn't respond to change of address request that I made.
In short, I have enough with them, and I wish to report them.

Any idea where I can report them? They're not registered with BBB.
I tried FTC, but their complaint system doesn't really apply with the situation.

Any other idea?

how can you "report" something that doesn't, hasn't, and probably never will exist?

indigogo is your only recourse, but, I think part of their TsandCs is "you puts in your money, you takes your chances, don't bother us" .... but I could be wrong about that.

You're exactly right, palerider. Well said.
Yes, this is Indiegogo's motto (customer happiness policy): "you puts in your money, you takes your chances, don't bother us".

Yes, I kept contacting Indiegogo, all they said in essence is "sorry, they took your money, you're at their mercy."

That's why I want to see what other resources I can put for a good use.

I'd guess the only thing would be a lawsuit... if you can find what beach they're on with all that money.

Wow, almost $2 million, according to the web site! What a haul. Sounds like fraud to me, no intention of ever producing that product I'm guessing...but as has been said, the problem is catching up with someone who doesn't want to be caught and has almost $2 million bucks.

If your paying with a credit card or debit card have the bank or credit union cancel the card. When they issue you another card think twice before using it.

the money is long gone, no reason to cancel the card.

Exactly what do you think Airing has done that is illegal? You donated $ to fund the development of a product. Doesn't mean you will ever see a completed product.

Now I get a feeling what kind of "engineer" you are. Explains your online presence

Dear XXYZX, I'm very curious. What kind of professional engineering gig allows you to live in Hawaii and post on the internet all day and night long? I'd like to switch careers and yours sounds fabulous. I am a professional engineer who manages other professional engineers, and I barely have time to eat and use the toilet most days. Today I'm off on a honey-do vacation, lucky me. My wife will be chastising me shortly for wasting this 2 minutes posting to you. Cheers.

Thank you LSAT and Guest09 for standing up for me (against harsh comment).
I love this forum because people are nice and respectful. Yes, people disagree, that's normal, but they remain respectful.
Thank you to those who remained respectful in responding to my post.

Just to clarify, here are what I experienced:
1. I never received response from Airing directly (I contacted them through their campaign page in Indiegogo).
2. The only 2 times they responded were when the Indiegogo customer service contacted them on my behalf (forwarding my email to them).
3. They kept postponing/revising (2 or 3 times) the release date, each time adding approximately 1 extra year.

So, based on these 3 facts, I lost faith in them (Airing) and failed to see their good intention.
The last straw that broke the camel's back is when I contacted them to update my address many times, and still, no response after 2 months.
If they don't bother to update/confirm if they have my correct address, how they're going to ship the product if it (ever) becomes available in the future?

Yes, I understand the nature of a campaign, it's an experimental project. It may fail, but people only contribute if the company can convince them that it has good chance to success at the first place.

Regular updates and honest progress report in details, and most importantly good communication, are essentials in campaigner-backer relationship.
And that's what I saw lacking. And after 2 years of poor communication, as a normal human being, I lost faith in them.

It took two years, my B.S. Meter went off when I first saw the posting. I first learned about VaporWare in the old Commodore 64 Days, never sent $$$ for it, even back then.
