What are you thankful for?

Postby SnoreNoMore2005 on Tue Nov 21, 2006 10:16 pm

As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, it's a great time to reflect on all we have to be thankful for. At the top of my list are the great people on this message board who help me get started with my CPAP machine over a year ago. Had it not been for the encouragement and support I found here, I don't think I would have made it.

Having now logged @ 4000 hours of CPAP time, I wouldn't think of going to bed (or leaving home) without it. My hope is that CPAP therapy can help all of you as much as it helped me.

God bless everyone who helped me... and thank you again.

I'm with you. I've been using CPAP since Nov.2005-how appropriate so close to Thanksgiving... I do consider CPAP a blessing and I am forever indebted to a good friend who is a neurologist and actually sent me for my study. I can never repay him!!!(Love you Scott!!!! and THANK YOU)

Iam thankful for all the knowledgable people on this forum. I know any question I ask will be anwsered. These anwsers have helped me very much.I am also thankful to my husband who used stay awake at night to make sure I would breathe & brought my gasping to my attention. Without his observations I might not have known I had OSA & might have never got tested or treated for it. I am also thankful for my apap for allowing me to sleep without apneas, thus changing my life.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE.

Thankful For

Postby PADACHEEK on Wed Nov 22, 2006 6:08 am

I am thankful for changes that our lives undergo as we travel through our own unique natural progression called 'the rest of our life'.
I am thankful that tomorrow is an unknown, and a treasure, a new beginning to get it more right than I did today.

I am thankful that I have an opportunity to reach out and be a part of a new person's life; the chance to bring a smile to a child, or to let a lonely older person know they truly do matter.

I am thankful that I never meet a stranger, and I am always willing to look beyond appearances to see the "gold" in each person I meet. I am thankful that God is real and alive in each one of us.

I am thankful for opportunities to make a difference in this world. I am thankful that in giving we are receiving more than we can ever really know at the time.

And of course I am thankful for this site, this forum, this place to come to to share joys and concerns. It is in sharing that each of our worries are made less and our joys are made more.
I am thankful for each that take the time to come here and share their wisdom and a listening ear. And I am thankful for those who brave the unknown to ask a question here so that others who are not so strong may have their questions answered too.

So have a Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving.

Thankful

Happy Thanksgiving to all our American neighbours! We've already had ours up here in the frozen north. But I am also thankful for this wonderful forum and all the advice I've read about the cpap journey. It has truly changed my life and helped me get thru a very tough year.
Karen, I notice your "quote" about a wonderful world. If you get a chance, listen to Eva Cassidy's version of this song - if it doesn't bring tears to your eyes, nothing will (especially when you hear her life-story). Anyways, Best wishes to all!

Steve.

I'm Thankful For...

Postby kteague on Wed Nov 22, 2006 8:08 am

...all my obvious blessings - wonderful family, faithful friends, sustenance, enough health to still enjoy life, relative safety day to day, and a reprieve from grief for quite some time now.

...all my "blessings in disguise" - that being unable to work enabled me to be there for a friend battling cancer; that great need grows great friendships and great faith; the inexplicable mystery of how hearts touch when eyes have never met; how life can be hard yet good at the same time (they don't have to take turns!).

...and that I have the good sense to recognize how good I've got it.

Kathy

Priviledge is not a reward of life, rather life itself is a priviledge. Believing this enables one to have a thankfulness in being, not having.

Life is good

Postby snork1 on Wed Nov 22, 2006 10:21 am

I am thankful that pioneering apnea folks braved the abuse and made me aware of the possibility of using a dental device to treat apnea.

I am REALLY thankful I am one of the people that a dental device WORKS for treating apnea.

And I am thankful my wife and kids and I are all in good health right now.

Life is good.

I am thankful to God. Not to preach, but even though we all have a health related issue here, God is still at the top of my list. I am not a wacko religious freak but I believe that thanking God for all He has done is important in all of our lives. I have this OSA, high blood pressure and cholesterol, chronic acid reflux and make frequent visits to the cardiologist. I have a child that is autistic and I work 2 jobs to make ends meet.

I am not complaining because I have a loving family that I enjoy immensely. I am just saying that God promises us all a treasure at the end of our journey... there is just no promise that the journey will be an easy one.

I'm done now. Thanks for listening.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

I am thankful for:
1) Finding out the reason I always felt sick in the morning was due to OSA.
2) Getting treatment for OSA so that now I feel great!
3) Getting so many good ideas of how to optimize my treatment from this wonderful board.
and last but not least...
4) My two new wonderful grandchildren that came into the world this year!

Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Maryb

This may be a bit long, but those who know me are probably saying, "So what else is new?" Here goes:

My family makes me very thankful, and so do my firm and fast friends. It makes me very thankful to be in better health, and a large part of that is due to my medical support people. All of the above have seen me through a lot. Two suggested a sleep study. I am so thankful for all of them.

It is truly a miracle that I am still here, and I am lucky to have had prayers of support from so many people. It is those prayers that helped me to survive the most difficult times. Thank you to all those who said, "I'll pray for you," without being asked.

My opportunities in life have been exceptional, and I am very thankful to have had so many of them. There is a large collection of experiences in my memory; those help to make me who and what I am. It is amazing to realize how many experiences I have collected. The people who made these experiences possible by choosing me to participate, or who participated with me to make the memories, make me very thankful.

Here is something I thought might demonstrate some of my feelings for which I am thankful in regards to the cpaptalk.com Forum:

T for Testing that accurately identifies the need for xPAP in so many

H for Helpful xPAP users who post here

A for Available and Awesome experiences shared here

N for Newbies always welcomed

K for the Kaleidoscope of Forum Folk from all over the world

F for this wonderful Forum provided by CPAP.com

U for Unconditional acceptance of all people

L for Links to other sources of information shared by our members

May everyone who celebrates this weekend be in touch with loved ones and surrounded by warmth and a feeling of security and love. I'll include this wish in my prayers for all of us "Forum Folk."

Thankfully,

Karen

I'm thankful that God loved the world enough to send His Son.
That His grace is sufficient to get me through whatever He allows to come into my life (including sleep apnea).
That His mercy endures forever (which I often need).
I am also thankful for loving family and friends, for this forum with many great people who are willing to share their experiences, knowledge and encouraging words with others.
Hope you all have a very Happy Thanksgiving!!
Esther :)
