Jay PSU, I agree with everyone who's posted. I had a similar problem. My DME was going to give me a ResMED APAP when my prescription SPECIFICALLY said a P&B 420e APAP. When I said no I'm not taking a ResMED as my prescription says something else, she was pretty shocked. She tried to get me to take i...

I agree with Jim. For that pressure range, you should have been prescribed a BiPAP machine. I suggest you go back to your doctor and tell him the problems your having. If 18 is what is needed to keep your airway open, then don't mess with that. You really should have been given a machine that would ...

Beney, Using APAP is a balancing act to get the right pressure at times. For me, my original titrated pressure was 14 on CPAP, then raised to 16. When I got my APAP we tried 12 - 17. I gave it 3 months. When I downloaded my data it showed that I was spending 85% of the time on 14. Well I didn't want...

Cory congrats on getting your surgery!!!! I'll put you in my prayers for a swift recovery. I have kept a tab on your struggles for almost a year now and am glad you've gotten your surgery. You've gone through so much and deserve for this to be a success.

I wish you all the best.

For me I stay at my sister's house two nights a week due to a very long commute if I were to drive from my house to work. This way I can have both set up and not worry about going back and forth with one machine and the possibility of forgetting something. Also, if something does happen to my machin...

Ms. Piggy,

I've had my P&B 420e since January 2006 and haven't had any problems. I love the small design and it seems to work really well for me. I'm planning on getting a backup P&B 420e in the near future. I have no worries about the quality of this wonderful machine.

Alsarnac, I'm considering buying a backup unit as well. I also have a P&B 420e that I really like. For me, after weighing all the options I decided when I do get a backup it's going to be the same unit. This way I already have the software and understand the workings of the unit. Best of luck with y...

Snoredog why do you suggest lowering pressure, upping the CFlex, and using the ramp? RVW didn't say he was having problems with the pressure. He's saying he's still really tired after 2 weeks. Normally after a certain amount of time, a pressure is raised if a person isn't seeing an improvement and n...

The noise could be a result of the type of mask you have. I noticed when I'm using one mask over the other it may be quieter. Also, maybe it depends on the machine you get. I found my P&B quieter than the Resmed S7 lightweight I first received.

I agree with both theories as well. Two weeks is definitely too soon for some. I know quite a few people see an instant result, however, for me it was gradual. Give yourself a full month of using the machine and see how you are. Also, I found that I got the best treatment using nasal pillows as oppo...

My insurance company has a policy of a 10 month rental and then the CPAP is mine. You will definitely want to talk to your insurance company and find out their policy. I agree with Jim, more than likely just go to cpap.com and purchase the machine. You won't get a better deal from your DME. Melinda

Isaac, As Jim mentioned, APAP's only go up to 20 just as CPAP's. Since that is what you were titrated at, I would be concerned if I were you. Please talk to your doctor about the possibility of getting a BiPAP or an Auto BiPAP since your pressure is so high. Please feel free to ask any questions you...

Jeff if you do a search you'll get info about the CPAP Pro. From what I've read, it doesn't work that great for the most part. Have you tried the traditional nasal pillows? Many people have found success with them. The four popular types are: Headrest (formerly Aura) Swift Breeze Comfortlite II I ca...

Monica, Some times it takes awhile to get used to CPAP. Using it for half the night is a good start. Try to increase that time as much as you can. You want to work towards being 100% compliant. In the beginning I had a hard time falling asleep, but it got better. For me it was a matter of getting so...

Raka, If you are still feeling tired after four months, then it's time to call your doctor and find out what the next step is. There are times when pressure tweaks are needed. Also, if you're concerned that you can't monitor how you're doing you may want to also discuss this with the doctor and see ...
