Ever since I started using CPAP, it seems like I wake up pretty well bloated. With gas being exhausted from both ends. Has anyone else run across this problem?

Gas

Post by WillSucceed » Mon Feb 21, 2005 2:08 pm

Oh yes, hot air and I are no strangers.

My prescribed pressure is 15 but I've had to lower it to 10. I found that propping myself up in bed with some pillows helped (lots of belching) and, I stay away from carbonated drinks / anything that creates gas in my system.

I have found that, over time, the gas problem has eased up, but it is still there to some extent. I'm sure that others on this board, who have much more experience than me, will be able to give you some good suggestions.

Good-luck!

You can start to avoid some of the embarassment by saying you have "The Vapors" in a southern belle voice. People will be too busy laughing to worry about it.

I don't know what the physiological cause of this is. I haven't noticed any particular change in by gassiness (from either end) since using my CPAP.

Liam, who could have powered a small natural gas automobile BEFORE CPAP, thank HEAVEN it didn't get WORSE.
