Re: My story so far...and a question
I've been tested by three different "sleep doctors" and none were impressive. I've done much better on my own....and I owe it all to the fine people on this forum. I haven't dismissed any of my "doctors"....simply because I may want a prescription change in the future. Other than that, I consider th...

Re: Apnea, no insurance, need advice
Ultranewb........ The advice given by the others is first rate......spot on. I can add nothing more. What they are telling you is correct. Because you are an engineer, you'll do well. It'll become a "game" to see how well you can do. I predict that you'll quickly adapt and find the therapy comfortab...

Re: Is it safe to tape mouth to prevent mouth leaks?
I'm not sure if you can find it in Turku or not, but many of us use 3M 2" (5.08 cm) width #2080-EL Blue painter's tape. I use a piece about 25.0 cm long with the ends folded under (approx 1.5 cm). The tape extends almost from ear to ear across my mouth and works wonderfully. I've been using tape for...

If you aren't sure what to do, just look at Pugsy's equipment list and get the same stuff. You can't go wrong by simply emulating Pugsy.

Kelly.... You should push hard for an auto-adjusting machine that is full-data capable. The machine should either come with software....or be capable of using software that you purchase....so that you can carefully monitor your own progress on your own computer....and so that you can print out night...

Re: FINALLY Found A Chinstrap That WORKS!
OK, Mike..... So, how'ya gonna do it? There's pressure in your mouth trying to escape. If it escapes, your therapy is neutralized. 3M 3" #2080-EL is what a bunch of us use. It tastes yucky for a minute or two....requires about 15-seconds to remove without discomfort....and it gets the job done. If y...

Re: FINALLY Found A Chinstrap That WORKS!
Lucy.... From a sealing standpoint, the 3" Blue tape is better because there is more adhesive area...to help prevent "blow-off". Our purpose is to keep pressure inside....sorta like putting tape on the outside of a leaking bicycle tire. The pressure inside is trying to blow the tape off....and the a...

Re: FINALLY Found A Chinstrap That WORKS!
Lucy....... Yes...I use a 10" strip...ends folded 1/2" to make handles....Tape is 3" wide 3M #2080-EL Delicate Release Painter's Tape from Lowe's. The extra length is there to prevent "blow-off". Removal is painless provided the tape is NOT pulled directly away from the face. The tape should be pull...

Re: FINALLY Found A Chinstrap That WORKS!
I've used Lansinoh for a long time and it helps in a couple of ways. It helps seal the nasal bellows to my nares so that my leaks there are minimal...and...it helps with comfort. I apply Lansinoh "liberally" and it would quickly make that chin strap a greasy mess just below my nose. Also, the thickn...

Re: FINALLY Found A Chinstrap That WORKS!
We received (2) chin straps yesterday....and tried them out last night. My wife liked hers......and I removed mine after 1-hour. There are a number of reasons why I will not be using the chin strap. 1. Strap material uncomfortably thick 2. Can't use Lansenoh on my nares 3. Changes geometry & fit of ...

Re: FINALLY Found A Chinstrap That WORKS!
Mine came in the mail this morning and I intend to start using one of them tonight. This evening, I'll pull my card and do a print-out of my AHI numbers for the past week....and then compare my AHI experience for the next week using the strap system. If my AHI numbers are about the same (average is ...

Re: High triglycerides, means body jonesing for Diabetes?
Bill....... A couple of years ago, my doctor convinced me to take Antara for high triglycerides. It worked like a charm for over a year....my levels were reduced to normal.....and I was pleased. But after about a year, my left hand wouldn't work correctly...I had a lot of pain when I tried to use it...

Re: When will I start to feel better?
Elisha.... The smartest move you can make right now...is to get software so that you can monitor your progress with precision. Also, concentrate on conquering your leaks....so that your "leak line" is as level as possible. Work toward a goal of keeping your AHI at or under 2.5. I realize that the me...

Re: Lip problems with long-term blue tape use?
Sorry, Country..... But I'm simply unable to visualize in what direction you are pulling the tape in relation to your face. Please describe the removal process again...so that I can better understand what you're doing. I have zero problems during tape removal....and I'm trying to help you enjoy the ...

Country....
How do you remove the tape? Are you pulling straight away (perpendicular) from your face?
