Re: Airmini Review

The mask that comes with the Airmini has the exhalation system described below built into it. When I swap that out for my "normal" mask, that has its own exhaust port.   So one possible disadvantage of the hack I described is that you lose any kind of humidity system, but as humidity doesn't seem to...

Re: CPAP journey - 18 months in

GG, it's great to hear how things have been going for you. If you have a moment, I wonder whether you might copy and paste your post into the Success Stories thread at the top of the page. I think it's a great post for newbies to read. OK, I've done that. And now I know that thread is there, I will...

Re: CPAP journey - 18 months in

Hi there bran, Sounds like you are doing well after just a couple months! Re: the weight, there is quite a bit of research out there suggesting a link between CPAP and weight gain but what I saw didn't seem to be conclusive and I didn't see any suggested causal link. I'm pretty sure I gained a good ...

CPAP journey - 18 months in

Hi everybody, What follows is an update on where I've got to over my first 18 months of being a CPAP user. I've highlighted below some of the things which helped me get to grips with CPAP, and I hope there is something in here which will be useful to other newcomers. But first, a HUGE thanks to ever...

Airmini Review

--- TLDR: The Airmini is a great travel solution once you've hacked it to reduce noise, but don't expect to be able to use the product out of the box. You will need to buy a separate adapter or make your own modifications to make it usable. --- After taking at least a dozen flights over the last yea...

Re: Another newbie getting to grips and with CSR concerns

OK, here are the results of last night's trial with a higher max pressure (12): https://imgur.com/BTebCDq.png Overall it felt like a pretty good night's sleep. I could certainly feel the extra pressure, but while I was definitely conscious of that along with some leaks a few times during the night, ...

Re: Another newbie getting to grips and with CSR concerns

Hi everybody, Just thought I'd check in after being away travelling for the last week. Current situation: My data is starting to look more consistent and the results now appear (to my untrained eye) to be great. Over the last 7 days my average AHI has been 1.49 (OA: 0.19, H: 0.92, CA: 0.38) which is...

Re: Another newbie getting to grips and with CSR concerns

I got that wrong actually. My diagnosis was for severe obstructive sleep apnea. Did you have a large number of central apneas during the diagnostic sleep study? Enough to have a central apnea AHI greater than 5? If you did...there's a good chance you have a problem with centrals despite severe OA d...

Re: Another newbie getting to grips and with CSR concerns

I had another great night last night with no changes to the recipe. I recorded an AHI of 1.58 made up of 0 CA, 0.7 OA and 0.88 H. I woke up feeling refreshed and went out for a walk before anybody else in the house has risen (another first), thinking "Ah, so this is what waking from sleep is suppose...

Re: Another newbie getting to grips and with CSR concerns

If you are seeing clustering of OAs or hyponeas and the max pressure is pegged out...you might also be on your back when that is happening. It's common for people to have their OSA worsen and require more pressure when supine than they might be needing when on their side. REM stage sleep can worsen...

Re: Another newbie getting to grips and with CSR concerns

About the pressure maxing out at 9: the pressure increases seem to be largely driven by your flow limitations. Increased pressure doesn't actually do much to address flow limitations, so as long as your OA and H indexes are low, you might not want to worry too much about increasing your max. (Flow ...

Re: Another newbie getting to grips and with CSR concerns

Ok, thanks for the tips. I’ll try to stop worrying and just keep an eye on the trends for now until I properly get used to this new way of sleep. In the meantime maybe I’ll increase the max pressure to stop it maxing out at 9. Then I’ll see what the doc says when I next visit. On the waking up thing...

Re: Another newbie getting to grips and with CSR concerns

OK, I managed to find a workaround to the IMGUR issues. So here we have:
The night before last, AHI getting better, still some CSR flagging

Zoomed into the CSR:

Last night, much better:
