Topic: Hose Cleaning?

I also have never cleaned mine and I have not had any colds or sinus issues since I started treatment last March. I don't see the need to wash the hose since it has air going through it in really only one direction. Because of the velocity of the air going through it, I feel that only very little if...

Why do doctor's even Prescribe CPAP when BIPAP is readily available? The easy answer is lack of knowledge on the part of the docs and greed on the part of the DME. But that's not really fair. I can't really blame the DME for not automatically supplying a bi when it is not prescribed. That would not...

It makes my stomach hurt just to read this story. My diagnosis and getting equipment was a lot smoother. Why, I don't know. I would be soooo mad if I got this kind of runaround, especially when sleep deprived. I do know what it's like to be on no sleep and it is one of the worst feelings of depressi...

The only times I really think to myself, "gosh I wish I did not have this issue" is when I'm traveling and have to lug the extra bag around. Other than that, it's become second nature and a very routine part of my life. I can think of few ailments I'd rather not have than OSA. I have a friend who ha...

I noticed some issues with this when I first started, but it went away after a few weeks. I guess I just had to get used to the pressure. Not a problem any more.

You'll also eventually need spare filters. That model has 2 types. A course filter (sort of a charcoal color that is washable) and a finer white filter that is replaced on a periodic basis. I use mine for about a month. Happy hosing.

If memory serves, the CDROM does walk you through the fitting procedure. I can't remember if I got my info from there or from my DMEs respirtory technician.

I've had this same issue. The pillow should never really be in your nose. They are designed to inflate against the outside rim of your nostril. Nothing should be touching the skin inside the nostrils. I feel that using pillows that are too small is one of the main reasons people sometimes complain a...

Say to the doc "hey humor me on this. I want to at least give the apap a try. If it does not seem to work out for me, I'll just switch it over to the fixed mode." You can run the apap as a straight cpap. Some have found they do not do will on apap. I've tried both and the apap works better for me. I...

What you can try instead of putting anything in your humidifier water is taking a couple of drops of the scented oil and putting it on something absorbant near the air intake on your machine. That way you can still get the aroma without really adding it directly to the machine. I tried this with Vic...

You're only speculating on the legalalities of issuing new/used to a patient. I was told that the rules vary according to the agreement the DME has struck with the insurance carrier. I also see a lot of xpaps go up for auction on yahoo auctions by the same sellers. Only a guess but there seems to me...

You could use it to power a wind tunnel for paper airplanes? I used mine the other day to annoy a girlfriends cat. Very satisfying.

If the problem is swallowing air, and it does not go away on its own, you could also have an issue with GERD. I was having the same problem and it was basically fixed by taking Prilosec for a couple of weeks.

You may also want to try a nasal rinse. Google Neti Pot (I think it's called). I think sinus issues can contribute to the problem.
