DC Power cord for Remstar

Post by Mikesus » Mon Feb 14, 2005 4:41 pm

Can anyone tell me the polarity of the plug for the Remstar Auto Cflex? (i.e. Tip positive, or Tip Negative.)

I have the Respironics dc cable for use on my boat (haven't tried it yet). I should point out that the Respironics manuals say that you should not use any other cable other than their own. There is a picture on the cpap.com web site. There are two molded units on the cable, one at each end, and I suspect that they are high frequency filters. I measured the resistance of each line, comes in at just under 1 ohm, so again I suspect there may be filters present.

That said, the "tip" on any cigarette-lighter plug is positive. The center post on the coaxial connector at the Respironics end is also positive. I don't think you would have a problem if you made your own.

Just take the plug to radio shack and match it up. There is a standard letter type designator for the connector.
If you look at the cpap it should have a picture that answers this question.

Actually it doesn't that is why I asked

What I was thinking about was creating a backup using a 17ah gel cell (we have had the power go out here for a day at a time before...) Or possibly a pair of em paralleled. When we go camping I have it covered as we have a genset, and a 3kw inverter... Just those pesky power outages...
