Re: Opening up an M Series Auto

Wulfman - I did find a foam packer when I took the plate off, that was all clogged and had a bit of fungus on it. I cleaned that in white vinegar too.
Thanks DSM - it was the same set of pictures by Craig.

Re: Opening up an M Series Auto

Unfortunately it does not show how the bottom of the box is opened. It is the bottom where the air intake is that I would like to get at. If there's any fungus which has been drawn in with the air this is where it will be. It does look as though all the electronics is in the top and probably taking ...

Opening up an M Series Auto

I have a Respironics M series auto. For quite a while I had been noticing what I thought was some dust building to behind the grid plate where the filters fit. I couldn't reach in to clean it but thinking it was only dust I left it. Finally it got so bad that I managed to get the special type of scr...

Re: Cpap, Nasal Congestion and filters

Julie, I did put my humidifier on about two thirds when my nose became congested because I though it would help. Now that my congestion has gone I no longer use the humidifier at all.

Cpap, Nasal Congestion and filters

My first Cpap machine was a Fisher and Paykel with a standard filter, for one reason or another I kept the machine on the floor alongside the bed. At some point I developed quite severe nasal congestion - I did not connect it with filtration in the cpap machine. I had the congestion for 3 or 4 years...

Re: Allergic to cpap headgear

Thanks all for your responses. I have found out that Respironics make headgear made from Lycra so I'm going to order one of those and see how it goes.
Thanks again

Allergic to cpap headgear

A few months ago I developed a severe rash of extremely itchy hives all over my body which I eventually got under reasonable control with antihistamines. I continue to have a skin reaction where my cpap headgear touches my forehead and the top of my head where I have a bald patch - I generally have ...

Re: Chest Pains

If your ribcage itself is painful, especially around the sternum, it could be Costochondritis (check it out in Google). This is inflammation of the rib cage cartilage and can be very very painful giving similar symptoms to heart attack. Press your fingers into your ribcage, if its very tender then t...

Re: CPAP and ears.

Hi - the procedure is known as 'Myringotomy'. It is a very common procedure with children who get "Glue Ear" where it requires a general anaesthetic. For adults it is a 30 minute office procedure. The ENT surgeon gives you a local anaesthetic, this is a bit painful but the rest is not. He then makes...

Re: CPAP and ears.

I've had this problem for some time. What happens is that the eustachian tube becomes blocked, I believe this is due to the pressure from the cpap forcing mucous into the tube. When the tube becomes blocked it sets up a situation where the middle ear gets negative pressure and that sucks in the ear ...

Ear tubes with cpap

I'm currently having hearing problems which may require the placing of ear tubes, seeing my ENT tomorrow.
I'm wondering if cpap will cause a problem (like noise created by air coming thru the tube) if tubes are placed. Does anyone here have ear tubes in place whilst using cpap?

Hearing loss due to Cpap

The last 2 or 3 months I have been having periods of hearing loss. The cause was Eustachian Tube Dysfunction. My doctor treated me with prednisone but lately it didn't do the trick any more - I had almost total hearing loss in my right ear and my left was getting bad too. I dug around in Google and ...

Re: Nasal Crusting after turbinate reduction

Thanks for that Snoredog. I have been reasonably happy until very recently when I started getting a lot of heavy mucous which added to swollen turbinates is causing problems, I have become sensitised to nasal sprays so I have to manage without them. Added to this the mucous is causing blockages in t...
