Thanks again for comments. I think I'm going to end up with a Remstar Plus (no C-Flex). I turn it off anyway. I'm pretty hypersensitive to machine noise, especially the motor noise through the hose. I use a PB420E (auto) for travel, for my own do-it-yourself sleep studies, and as a backup machine, b...

Thanks for your comments guys. TXKajun, great to see your reply, and hint about sweet-talking the company.

One issue I have is that the DME I used originally no longer exists, so I may be out of luck there.

Replace vs. Repair (Remstar)

Hi folks. I haven't been watching this forum for a Long time.... Anyway, wish everybody well with their sleep. I've got a Remstar Pro/C-Flex that just developed a nasty motor whine. It's past warranty time. I don't know where to get serviced and I expect that it would cost me / my insurance company ...

L,

The 405 comes with two sizes of cushions and the frame seems a little bigger than the 407. I think the 407 is newer, more compact and fits "90%" of faces. It just doesn't fit 100% of mine.

Lori, A-nother Seattite here. I had the opposite experience from RIS. I find the FP 407 to be by far the quietest thing in my arsenal, but it doesn't fit my face at all. I don't get the moisture problem because I don't turn the heater on on my humidi-fryer. I have been tempted to try the 405 since I...

I used Google to translate the page. I'm particularly intrigued by the "block food" in the "References of Order" section.

Brent, I have the original UltraMirage and the Activa. The Activa is particularly good if you turn alot in your sleep and/or you mostly sleep on your side. The Active Cell cushion is a little strange since you wear it loosely it sort of inflates and deflates as you breathe, but its bellows effective...

I go weekend car camping with a tent when I can predict the 2 days in the summer that it doesn't rain around here. I use either a PB 420e or a Remstar/Pro machine that each can run directly at 12 volts with the manufacturer's adapter. I run at a pretty low pressure (8) and I easily get 2 nights from...

I'm jumping on this band wagon a little late, but somebody just sent me a link to the actual research paper:

The Australians seem to make all the progress! Toot.

I'm proud to be one of the loudest complainers about noise. As RestedGal sez, there seems to be quite a bit of variation even among individual machines of the same model. My PB420e (I use primarily for travel) is noisier than my Remstar/Pro. I can only tolerate either with the humidifier. I love to ...

Prof, I've got a 420E (just took it to Germany!) and I still get annoyed by the noise. My Remstar Pro is quite a bit quieter. The first thing to note is that the noise you get "through the hose" will be much reduced when you are going through a humidifier. I can't use mine without it even though I d...

Curly,
Good suggestions there about phone cord extensions...

I just had to transfer my Silverlining setup from my old W2000 laptop with serial ports to my new XP laptop with USB only. I bought an IOGear Serial USB adapter, installed the driver for the adapter, and it works fine.

Yep, that's me. Some may say it is a picture of a son of a... something. I think the photo is 7 or 8 years old... You certainly may use it in the yearbook.

I sorta find the Franglish Silverlining application charming. I was annoyed at first, but every time I choose "Downloading Compliance", I kinda chuckle. Overall, I find the software works pretty well. Anyway, I needed to transition to a new laptop and (of course) I couldn't find my Silverlining inst...

I suspect that any machine transmits more noise with the hose hooked up directly to its outlet than through a humidifier chamber. It is very noticable with both my PB420e and my Remstar/Pro. I can't use either without the humidifier in-line. I doubt if the "external" noise (that made by the machine ...
