Fatigue from any physical activity

Post by RK220 » Sun May 28, 2017 6:22 pm

Was diagnosed with mild sleep apnea 7 months ago and has been using the machine from then. My problem is not able to perform any physical activity for more than 10 mins, Either it be walking or any house hold chores. With in few minutes of any physical activity i start to feel sick/exhausted, If i take a break i will recover in 30 mins, but if i keep pushing beyond 10 mins i get sick which will last 3-4 days.

My fatigue only kicks in when i do any physical activity, other wise i'm a very normal person. I can do my job(mostly sitting) with out any issues, drive for long hours, enjoy mostly all things(restaurants, movies) which doesn't involve standing up or walking. I have been suffering with this from last one and half year, after i was diagnosed with sleep apnea I thought using the machine will help me recover. But even after 7 months, fatigue is still the same. Though the machine did help me with day time sleepiness.

Wanted to reach out to you guys to see if there any other members who have seen this kinda of fatigue issue before. any input/feedback appreciated.

I have had a similar experience. I was diagnosed 10 years ago, though, and apparently was suffering for about 10 years bfore that. My morning sleepiness was cured, but I still need to nap in the afternoons. Like you, physical activity exhausts me. I was pretty sure there was something else going on, and I have a new GP who thought the same thing, and thats been confirmed. Please talk to your doctor about other possibilities.

Yes, you could incidentally have 10 other problems that have nothing to do with OSA or Cpap... do get checked out.

I do this as well. My GP says it is a habit, my Heart Dr.'s P.A. said it was probably conditioning (habit) as well. Not sure where to turn next? I have C.O.P.D. and think my SPO2 levels may have something to do with it. I haven't ever been to a Pulmonogist but my new Sleep Dr. suggested I should.

Couldn't hurt much. Might try a Iron tab, maybe Vit "D", if you go for testing A1C Blood Sugar (long)/ Y?ou need your Dr. Ok to force a large increase in exercize, small steps maybe, I don't agree with your Dr's Habit answer. You might have your testosterone measured. Just some ideas, I don't have C.O.P.D. to deal with yet! It's probable on the list for later. Jim

Any shortness of breath is best checked out thoroughly and followed up regularly. Docs kept chasing the cause of my increasing breathlessness, thinking it was likely cardiac related. After a stress test that had to be stopped abruptly they said my heart was in poor condition as my heart rate skyrocketed on minimal exertion. In the end it was discovered that I have lung disease and one lobe on each side is damaged. Do allow the doctors to determine the cause of your shortness of breath. Don't want to guess wrong.

You should see a pulmonologist and more things need to be ruled out. We could probably list dozens.

But, meanwhile, it also pays to make sure your PAP therapy is optimized to rule that out as a cause. Do you have Sleepyhead software and can you post a typical night's chart?

Your fatigue from activity could be related to one of an assortment of neurological disorders.
(Many respond well to early intervention--but no treatment at all could send you spiraling down)
I suggest you start NAGGING your doctors and do not stop until you have an answer.

Thank you for all the feedback. Met my pulmonologist yesterday and he clear me everything is good from his end. I have started looking into other specialties (starting with rheumatology for any auto immune diseases)

How do i get that chart? I use "My Air" App on my phone to check the usage/mask seal/events per hour/total score. The documentation I was given when i received the machine only referred to this "My Air" .. so have been only using that.

Would definetly like to try any other software.

Go back and read the second post in this thread. The details were given there.

Upon what tests did the pulmonologist base his clearance of you? Have you already been cleared of any cardiac issues? What blood tests have been done so far?
