Home O2 Therapy, Recommend Me A Nose Piece

Post by JoeFromSD » Sat May 13, 2017 8:28 am

I don't have sleep apnea, but do have COPD so have started home oxygen therapy at night.

My problem is the nose piece, the cannula, keeps coming off almost every night. I've tried taping the slider part but that doesn't help.

would anyone have a suggestion for a comfortable cannula that will stay in place all night?

Have you tried putting the tubing behind your head instead of having it rest under your chin?

Or using it, in the nares, over the ears, under the chin, then pull the slider snug, then maybe tape in place. Jim I never needed the tape!

another idea, some have the prongs curved a little you may be using them curved the wrong was.

My wife's mother uses a cannula style nose piece during the day. At night she has the equivalent of a very lightweight, simple cpap full face mask that works for her for sleeping. It was supplied by the oxygen people, and I don't see a manufacturer's name on it, so I can't help with that part. But whoever supplies your oxygen should have that available for you.

yes tried behind the head, I'm doing the over the ears, under the chin, then pull the slider snug, then I tape the slider onto the two clear tubes.

yeah goofproof the prongs are pointed down, pointed up is uncomfortable.

I got the prescription thru the VA and they've been no help,

great advice, I'll ask the O2 provider about it!
