New machine, different results
New machine, different results
I've been on CPAP (ResMed AirSense 10) for about 45 days. 4 days ago, the motor went out on my original unit, so I took it back and got another brand new unit (ResMed AirSense10). Prior to the original machine going bad, I was had an AHI of about 2. Now, with the new unit (3 nights use), and all settings being equal, I'm up close to 5. Any idea what might be going on?
Re: New machine, different results
If you are sure ALL settings are the same, I have no idea.

Re: New machine, different results
Check if the EPR (Exhalation pressure relief) setting was on when you got it, and at a high setting of its own. EPR can cause AHIs to go up a bit.

The Resmed 10 spec for pressure is +/- 0.5 cm h20, so the max difference is 1, not 2.xxyzx wrote:============================================hardball wrote:I've been on CPAP (ResMed AirSense 10) for about 45 days. 4 days ago, the motor went out on my original unit, so I took it back and got another brand new unit (ResMed AirSense10). manufacturing tolerances perhaps
you could be up to +/- 2 total cms if they all were off the same direction
or defective parts somehow causing different pressures actually delivered to you
or they defaulted some option that is different
use the clinic menu and verify that absolutely everything is the same as before
you did check the old one and document them all before you started using it didnt you ?
Have you got Sleepyhead plots we can look at, there may be adjustments you can make.

Re: New machine, different results
You had a faulty machine so you cannot compare, give it a few more days for your body to adjust and see where you are. AHI close to 5 is nothing to be too concerned about, how are you sleeping and how do you feel?hardball wrote:I've been on CPAP (ResMed AirSense 10) for about 45 days. 4 days ago, the motor went out on my original unit, so I took it back and got another brand new unit (ResMed AirSense10). Same mask, leaks are corrected for unless they are large, mystery factors? Same hose. You really don't know what you are talking about do you? You should try and read the clinical manual sometime.xxyzx wrote:======================TASmart wrote:The Resmed 10 spec for pressure is +/- 0.5 cm h20, so the max difference is 1, not 2.xxyzx wrote:============================================hardball wrote:I've been on CPAP (ResMed AirSense 10) for about 45 days. 4 days ago, the motor went out on my original unit, so I took it back and got another brand new unit (ResMed AirSense10). that is for the pumps
add in mask differences
leaks
other factors
measurement errors
hose resistance
the worst case can be a more than 1
