CPAP Breathing
CPAP Breathing
My husband has been using his CPAP for about 6 months now. I noticed a few days ago the change of the sound of his machine in the night. Last night when I listened for the change it was when he was not breathing in and out, yet the machine was still moving air. Is this normal? For one to still quit breathing when using a CPAP machine?

Yes it is. The machine is still trying to deliver therapy air to the user. Would you prefer it didn't???astevenson2017 wrote:My husband has been using his CPAP for about 6 months now. And, it's still possible/probable for the user to stop breathing when using the machine. It MIGHT indicate that the therapy pressure setting is less than it needs to be. It also could be that the "event" is a Central Apnea (neurological cause).
If your husband has a machine that collects data (other than hours used), he should be monitoring his therapy with software.

Yes, you can still have apneas. There could be a variety of reasons for this - the main ones are the machine settings are not optimal and the mask is leaking.astevenson2017 wrote:For one to still quit breathing when using a CPAP machine?
Did you want an answer to that one question, or do you want to get help to make sure the CPAP process is working properly?
