Yup! Now that I could get into the provider mode, I turned the Flex Mode off.

The provider manual I have is not for my actual machine. I can't remember why the RT at the DME gave me that manual instead of the one for my actual machine, but that's how it is. As far as I remember, everything else in the manual is the same, but for accessing provider mode, it says "simultaneously press the Right User button and the Silence button, and hold for at least 2 seconds." The machine that is pictured looks a little different than mine and has no knob.
well, then that does explain the confusion I suggest immediately going to apneaboard.com, there's a link at the top of the page that gives instructions on how to request the proper manual for your machine by email. it will be helpful to you to have the right one, in the future.

I went there. I found the manual for the BiPAP Auto SV but not the Auto SV Advanced. The instructions for the Auto SV look like the instructions in the book I have. The book I have is for the Auto SV Advanced, which is the machine I have, but the manual isn't for my exact machine. If I am remembering correctly from my initial problems with my machine, the difference is limited to the actual mechanics of changing things (ie knobs vs buttons). I think the RT told me why my machine isn't like the one in the manual, but I can't remember what she said.

this is the manual you need to request: "Respironics PR System One BiPAP AutoSV Advanced" you have to request it via email, you can't download it from the page.

please look on the bottom of your machine and confirm the REF number, just so we can be 100% sure we're getting the right manual.
