Missing Information on Device Info Screen

Post by Paper_Nanny » Tue Apr 18, 2017 2:48 pm

My doctor recently changed the settings on my device in the hopes of correcting an increase in my AHI. I realised a few weeks later that the info screen on my device no longer allows me to see Large Leak, AHI, or Periodic Breathing. I also cannot see Monitor Parameters, but I am not sure if I could see that before the change.

Is there any way that I can make those accessible again? And, can anyone think of a reason those would now be inaccessible other than the doctor wants to keep me from having that information?? Is it possible it was done accidentally? When the change was made to my prescription, it was originally done for the wrong machine. I brought my card home and my machine wouldn't accept the prescription. I had to take the card back and the woman told me she forgot I had an ASV and not a regular CPAP.

My doctor and I have had a disagreement since the very beginning about how much data I should have access to. I am trying not to be paranoid, but also thinking it isn't paranoia so much as it is reasonable suspicion.

Get the manual, and reset the display to show the information YOU WANT.
You are the patient---the doctor is your EMPLOYEE.
If he has a problem with that, tough dugs!

Is your doc the person actually making the changes to your equipment? If not, I wouldn't take it personally, the person making the changes may do it this way for everyone. Learn how to make changes yourself and you will never have this problem again.

Warning: Be sure to get a notebook and write down ALL of your settings before you change even one. Then write down the reason you made the change (expected outcome) and the date.

I think I may need to find a new doctor. I can't access the provider mode on the device to change what information is available. When they changed my therapy settings, it appears they took away my access. They do NOT want me to know those things. I think the only way I could change it would be by changing the information on the SD card, and I think I need Encore Pro to do that.

As someone with several chronic and incurable medical conditions, I often feel powerless in the medical world. I do not like feeling disempowered, which is how I feel right now. I really feel like screaming. I am so grateful for Sleepyhead right now.

download the manual for your machine from the link at the top of apneaboard.com.

there is no way to lock out access, the control menu is hidden, not locked, get the manual to know what all the settings are, and how to access them.

All you need is the "secret handshake", which is available in the clinician's manual.
This is available on the net, for free, and it is neither illegal to receive nor share it.
I would tell you myself in a PM, but am not familiar with your machine.
Someone should be along (just came) to give you a link or tell you which buttons to press at the same time. (It's that easy)
IMO, your doctor is a spoiled brat on a power trip. The sooner you are rid of him--the better.

Get the provider/clinical manual for your machine from this place. About 2/3 down the page are the instructions for how to request the provider manual via email.
http://www.apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap-p ... tup-manual
In the manual it explains how to get to that ultra secret menu where you can make a change to a setting that will allow you to see the data shown on the LCD screen.
The setting you need to change is "Show AHI" and when you turn it on the patient can see the data.
Also in the manual is some other information on how your machine works...it's worth getting and reading. This information is different from the patient/user manual that may have come with your machine.
