Amara View Cushion

Postby Guest on Mon Apr 17, 2017 11:04 am

Those of you that use the Respitonics Amara View. How long do you get out of the cushion? CPAPdotcom says 3-6 weeks, for me not even close. 30-40 days is all I get before leaks. I wash my face before bed and I wash the cushion every morning with warm soapy water. After 40 days or so, that's when the leaks start. I change to a fresh cushion and boom, it seals perfectly.

According to my calculation....your 30-40 days is 3-6 weeks

I normally went at least three months when I was using the Amara View. I would get a mask and one new cushion every six months from my insurance. I wash the cushion once a week, when I think of it.

My insurance company allows a new cushion to be sent every month.

There is a lot of this...There is a person on my local Craigslist that says he has 15 of particular mask cushion and 17 hoses for sale.

Personally I think a new cushion monthly is just right. For me after this time frame they start to leak.

...I use this mask since I am a "mouth breather" and it is perfect for me...less intrusive than others, in my opinion....Medicare allows me a monthly cushion and a full mask every 3 months....to be honest, my masks always leak, sometimes more other times less but getting a new one I don't see the difference...I noticed that recently when I get my mask from my DME the new masks come with the 3 cushion sizes and you use the one that fits you best and discard the other 2...when I started a year ago I had to tell the DME which size I needed for the full mask replacement...no longer. Since I hate waste it bothers me to throw away the small and medium size ones since I use the large size..when ordering the cushion by itself then I order large...sometimes I go 60 days without changing the cushion

I have been using my second cushion now for over 200 days. I wash it every day with mild soap. My percentage above the leak rate threshold for the last week was 0.26%. This is pretty similar to when the cushion was new. I have to pay for masks and cushions, and at $90 (AUD) for the cushion alone, I need and want to make them last.

Don't throw the unneeded sizes away...just offer them on the forum either for a little bit of money or for free and have the person you send it to reimburse you for postage.
There are people out here that could use those unused/unneeded sizes.

Or if it's too much trouble to send to multiple people...send them to me and I will send them out to multiple people as needed.

I get about 3 months out of an Amara View cushion. I only am allowed one every 3 months, so it works out. I never wash mine though. I mean never, so maybe that's why they last longer.
