Z1 Auto battery charger

Post by HughDe » Sat Apr 15, 2017 2:33 pm

I have the z1 auto with the battery pack and an extra battery. I want to charge the extra battery apart from the cpap machine... any ideas on where to find a charger that works for these batteries?

Hugh,
I'm not familiar with the specifics, but why don't you just swap out the batteries periodically. Be better then leaving one sitting unused and uncharged. My apologies if my idea is off the mark.

Sounds like a good plan, or if you want to charge extra while traveling, maybe google the battery pack and see what's out there. Jim

Hugh,

I have the Z1 and just wanted you to know that despite what the manual says you can indeed charge a battery in the shuttle without having the actual Z1 machine in the shuttle too. The manual is a bit misleading in that respect as it says to charge the battery in the shuttle with the machine in the shuttle too, but that's not really necessary - the only reason I can guess they say that is you can see the state of charge on the machine when it's in the shuttle, but the battery will still charge without the machine in the shuttle.

Otherwise I don't know of an aftermarket charger that would work but you might be able to find something that will work, or another possibility is just get a second shuttle to charge a battery since you don't need the machine to charge the battery.

Hope that helps.

HDM had a desktop charger in the works but it never came to market.

I have 5 batteries and I start charging them a day or two before an off-grid trip.

Just so you know, a battery charged in the shell with the Z1 installed is only about 80% charged when the Z1 shows it fully charged. You should charge it a further couple of hours to get the maximum charge (about 10 hours). And never leave a charged battery in the shell when not in use as it will drain.
