Burnt By Heated Tube

Post by Guest1 » Fri Apr 14, 2017 1:20 pm

Has anyone been burnt by the new heated tube. I feel asleep with my arm lying on the tube and awoke with a burned indentation from the tube. It is now appears that I will have a permanent scar. Has anyone incurred a similar problem. When I reported to my doctor, the local ResMed product supplier rushed out within an hour and replaced my entire unit.

Never heard of it.
But, they probably wanted to hide the evidence in case you decided to sue or file for some damages.

That one was defective, My tube cannot get above something like 90 degrees. I use it at 81,and cannot really notice it being warmer than the room.

Same here. I can barely feel ANY heat at all. Usually zero.
Sorry about your mishap. Good they replaced the defective equipment.

Very unusual. Those tube use low voltage. They should never get hot enough to cause a burn.

Weird. I can't even tell mine is heated as it never really feels any warmer than the room.

I do not know what tube the OP has. The Resmed heated tube is supposed to keep the air at 80 F which is less than body temperature.
If your Climateline tubing burnt you, something was definitely wrong, either with the tube or the CPAP device.

The 80 degrees is when the "Auto" selection is made in the menu of the AirSense/AirCurve heated hose models. There are other choices available manually from 60 F degrees to 86 F degrees.

The S9 ClimateLine heated hose can be set 64 F degrees to 86 degrees.

I have never heard of a heated hose malfunctioning and overheating much less causing a burn to someone.
I tend to agree with PR about this one...just someone wanting to stir up crap.

I feel it would melt the tube far before causing it to burn skin, I ohmed out the resistance of the DS Hose and even with a spike of line voltage it would most like burn the wire out before causing harm. The unit functioning normally at 12 or 24 volts, maybe a light zap or tingle if there was a bare spot in the hose.

The new heated tube? Never heard of it, I doubt my insurance would allow it.
