new user , confused with recent results

Post by wmunn » Wed Apr 12, 2017 5:09 am

I am new to cpap, been on my machine for a week and a half so far.
Originally I started out using a full face mask, then switched to a nasal pillow 4 nights ago.
The first night with the pillow mask was fine, however since then the results are strange to say the least. It doesn't feel like the machine is "breathing" with me and seems to be a constant pressure. I have changed nothing.
upon examining the logs with sleepyhead, I can see a big change in the readings but can't seem to figure out what is wrong

the first night looked like this
Image
see the flow rate shows and all results are there

the second night looked like this, missing data

and last night was even worse
Image
flow rate is completely missing.

No settings on the machine have changed, the hose is connected properly and I am at a loss as to what is happening. Should I be contacting my DME supplier for warranty service?

To follow up on this, my machine is philips dreamstation auto cpap, with heated tubing and humidifier. mask type is nuance pro, mask type is set to x2 as indicated on the packaging of the mask.
the full face mask is x1, I might try going back to that one for a night and see if the problem goes away due to that. Although I find the nuance pro to be much more comfortable.

I also unplugged the machine from the power this morning to "reboot" it, I figured if it works on everything else electronic it might be worth a try here right

Why are you only using the CPAP for 1-2 hours each day? I'm guessing that you are awake or partially awake while you have the CPAP on. What is your concern???
What are you confused about????

The problem is the machine is not recording the actual time I have had it on for the past 3 nights, the first several nights I was able to use it successfully for most of the night ,4 out of the 6 hours I slept before the mask got tugged off. I know I need to work on compliance but adjusting has been difficult for me, which is why I switch to the nasal mask instead of full face.

The last several nights the machine has been failing to record data, and has not ramped up and down with my breathing. Normally the machine blows air pressure while I am inhaling, and backs off for exhale. Now it no longer is doing that, and it is failing to record a lot of the sensor data.

If you look at the flow rate on second and third image, you can see it records flow for a very short period of minutes then stops altogether. That constant up and down on the flow rate is the machine backing off so I can exhale, it has stopped doing that entirely now.

What is your Flex exhale relief setting?
At a starting pressure of 5 you can't be getting much of a drop in exhale because the machine can only go down to 4 cm.

I don't see a zoomed in section of the flow rate showing the drop during exhale on any of your images.
I do see the normal pressure probe spikes on the pressure line. Last image.
I do see an image with the pressure line showing 2 lines which indicates the Flex relief. First and second images.

Make sure the SD card is firmly and correctly seated in the machine tonight and see what tomorrow shows after the reboot.
If it doesn't fix things...call up the equipment supplier.

after the reboot, and switching back to the full face mask, it worked correctly last night.

I believe the reboot fixed the problem, so I will try the nuance pro again tonight. On a good note, this was my first full night on the cpap machine, kept it on until I woke up at normal time.
