Hello y'all!
So I have been using my cpap for 2 months now. I have been able to get used to the machine and even turned off my ramp. I posted back then about having an itchy nose and that went away...sort of. The itch is now happening inside my nose and well, I am not doing to divulge how I take care of that.
Anyways, I am feeling like crap, nodding of a lot more and my AHI is always under 1 and once a week will be 0. I think this itchy nose thing is waking me up so much that I am not actually getting "good" sleep. Would I be correct in making this assumption?
So if my assumption is correct...how do I get rid of this itchy nose?
Thanks!
Angel

Re: Feeling worse than before treatment.
Some patients feel relief immediately, and for others it takes time. It's not unknown for patients to say that it's not helping, discontinue use, and then report that they feel worse than ever!
What happens in these cases is that the relief was gradual, but the cessation of treatment brought back the old symptoms with a vengeance!

Re: Feeling worse than before treatment.
Have you tried a bit more humidity re the itchiness? I use a 5" long very skinny (like ramen noodles) crochet hook to slide under the FF mask edge to catch itches.

Some people, me included, have been ale to get rid of the itchy nose by trimming their nose hairs.

Sounds like the itch in your nose is more of a problem than you want to admit. I haven't been around in a while, and I don't have time right now to read your full history. But I will say I think you need to revisit the itchy nose problem and your solution to it.angelc wrote:Hello y'all!

Back in 2010 I had an awful time adjusting to PAP. I just want you to know you are NOT alone in feeling worse after starting CPAP than before CPAP. It does get better. (And I say that IN SPITE of my current update, which contains more problems.)Anyways, I am feeling like crap, nodding of a lot more and my AHI is always under 1 and once a week will be 0. I think your idea that your itchy noise may be preventing you from getting good, sound sleep is a reasonable hypothesis. How many times do you think you are waking up at night? Do you remember waking up with an itchy nose some nights? Most nights?
How long does it take before the nose starts to itch?
That depends on what you've already tried. So if my assumption is correct...how do I get rid of this itchy nose?
So can you tell us what you've tried? No matter how gross it sounds, we've likely heard it before.
It would also help us help you if we knew a bit more about what you think is triggering the itch.
Is it the air blowing down your nose tickling your nose hairs?
Is it the smell of the mask?
Is it the air coming into the mask is too warm? too cold? too moist? too dry?
Do you have nasal allergies? If so, to what and are your allergies under control?

Re: Feeling worse than before treatment.
All I can say is different masks Completely offer different levels of itchy nose.
Nasal pillows never inched my nose that much.
And I'm on a full face mask now what keeps it to a minimum. Other masks can get crazy itch in my nose.

Itchy nose? Are we talking in the nostrils or on the outside the of nose?
