holes in wisp white tubing

Post by yulcdn » Wed Mar 22, 2017 7:24 pm

I have been a CPAP user for several years and 95% compliance. I know that I sleep much better when I use my machine. Now for the question...The white tubing that connects to my wisp nasal mask has developed holes (for the second time). I have no animals and I can't figure out what is causing the problem. My pressure is 95% below 15 and can top out at 16. Is this too much pressure for this kind of mask? Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening?

Thanks to Pugsy, I can now upload picture

Before your final click on the post button try clicking on the "Preview" button first.
If you can't see the image then neither can we.

Hi Pugsy,
I must be missing a step. I uploaded the picture to Imgur. I then clicked on imbed post
It then said copy and paste code
I went to cpap and tried to put the link between quote, then tried image and then tried url...I must be missing a step because none of these worked for me. the link that Imgur showed is <blockquote class="imgur-embed-pub" lang="en" data-id="a/hN75u"><a href="//imgur.com/hN75u"></a></blockquote><script async src="//s.imgur.com/min/embed.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Are you able to help figure out what I am doing wrong..
Thanks

I have destroyed more hoses than anyone else on this forum. When you finally get a picture to post I am sure I will be able to offer some ideas on how to make your hoses endure your particular sleeping style.

Do you see this? If you do copy the last/bottom line and paste it in your reply box. It's the linked BBC code.
I usually suggest that people click on Large Thumbnail first..the copy that last line.

I had a issue where the silicon headgear developed Cracks on the wisp mask frame but no issue with the short extension hose.
They charge around $38 for the replacement short hose and swivel connector.
I don't use the Wisp anymore and it's just taking up space.
I will be glad to send you my used hose for it if you pay shipping. I also have the S/M & P nose cushions that have never been used if your interested.

how often and what do you wash it with ?

It is not from wear ... the plastic is dissolved and softened
If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

So, what happened to the picture of the damaged hose?

Grayghost4 was able to figure out the address and he posted the link and we all saw the holes.
But then you removed it so now the picture is gone.

I was quite impressed...how old was that hose? I have never seen anything like that and you say it has happened twice to you?
I haven't used the Wisp...tried it and only lasted 90 minutes and that was it so I haven't had a chance to experience that short hose long term but I have with various other nasal masks with short hoses and I have never had even one hole in any of them and some I have used well over a year.

Well, the old saying is that a picture is worth 1000 words. If you can figure out a way to post a picture, how about 1000 words describing in detail the issue...

Without additional information... I will take a shot at this with the assumption that over extension caused the holes.

One way to deal with this is to purchase a hose cover from Pad A Cheek. This will keep the hose from over extending.

Another way is to find an old sock, or cutting off a sleeve from a shirt, or cutting up an old tee shirt, or cutting up an old sheet or pillow case, and so on. You need to measure the length needed by stretching the hose a little and using that measurement. That will be the maximum extension for the hose. Cut your material and wrap it around the hose. Pick up some 8 inch by 1/2 inch Velcro ties and use them to secure the ends of your fabric.

When sleeping and rolling over there are times when the hose can get pinned by your body and as you roll the small mask hose can get stretched to extremes. This will limit the extension and should eliminate this type of hose failure.
