Breathing sounds

Post by stevep700 » Tue Mar 21, 2017 9:39 am

Does anyone hear the sound of their breathing coming from their CPAP machine air intake port? It seems to be an issue with my Resmed AirSense 10 versus my former older Respironics machine.

Are you sure you're not talking about the CO2 vent vs the intake (have to ask)?

No, it is not at the mask. The sound is at the filter where the air is pulled into the machine. It sounds like my breathing, but amplified.

It seems that this thread describes the issue

Seems like it could be one of these issues:
  • Sealing problem with the reservoir
    Air filter needing replacement
Old and leaky hose or mask
A Faulty part called a pneumatic block

Here's a couple tricks I use to make that sound as soft as possible. The other replies are correct, it is the air being pulled through the filter.

1. Put the machine as close to the floor as possible. I put mine on the lowest level of my nights stand.
2. Put the machine on a soft towel if on a shelf
3. I put pillows on all sides of the machine's shelf but not blocking any air intake

This will make it so silent you will have to really listen to hear any noise.
