Trying a New Mask

Post by kfowler » Fri Mar 17, 2017 2:20 am

I just ordered a Fisher & Paykel Simplus full face mask. I currently use the Comfort Gel Full face mask from Respironics.

Anyone have any pros or cons they wish to share?

Wouldn't it be better to ask this before you order?

I really liked the Simplus at first. Nice fit and rarely leaked. Now I'm having trouble. Hard to believe that I'd need a new mask already. It's only been about 2 months.

the problem with seeking opinions on a mask is that a mask will fit, and therefore perform, differently for almost everyone.

no one mask will work for everyone equally.

i've gone through about 5 so far in my 3 weeks of cpap. i finally found 2 that seem to work for my face: the amara view and the airfit F20.

if you are getting leaks with a mask that seemed to work for 2 months, perhaps the cushion is getting worn out or the headgear is becoming loose with time?

i tried the comfort gel mask, and while it was comfortable, i just could not get a consistent seal on my face. other people swear by that mask.

perhaps others that use that mask can chime in with how often they replace the cushions.

Cushion life or nasal pillow life...that's just another one of those things that come with that big YMMV sticker.
Some people barely get a month of life and others can get 12 months or more and others somewhere in between.
I do think that a lot depends on facial oils and cleaning routines.
