1 year out , still exhausted hpap or oral appliances?

Post by bluewave500 » Thu Mar 16, 2017 9:54 pm

Well its been 1 year the a dream station pro, pressure set at 11...
i've been through several masks, bought a special side sleeper pillow. I just feel SO exhausted. They say i have a few leaks from time to time but not significant. Iim looking into HPAP therapy and or an oral appliance. Do any of you use and oral appliance to enhance therapy? I am normal weight, dent hardly drink, do not snore. I consulted with an ent to see if my tonsils should come out, but she didn't think it made a difference. i've been reading messages. And wonder if people who choose oral appliances or HPAP therapy, move on and do not post here? I was so excited to cure my apnea and feel rested. I was told during my sleep study I had between 40-50 episodes an hour.
thanks
Steph

I don't know what hpap is ... do you mean cpap?

I use an oral mouth guard along with cpap to treat my apnoea

I had a Dentist make me a MAD .. did not work ... just a lot of tooth and jaw pain.

you should also download Sleepyhead software and look at you therapy results.

If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

In this year of treatment, what measures have been taken to assure your treatment is doing all that it can for you? My first thought is maybe it's not optimized. There are people here who can walk you through determining that. If you've already done that, or after you do, my second thought would be to ask what other things have you been checked for and ruled out that could cause your symptoms. Maybe you need something addressed in addition to your sleep apnea. Can you describe your sleep to us? Do you feel you sleep soundly but still feel bad, or is your sleep fragmented and unrestful? Hopefully some clues will be uncovered that will lead to you feeling better.

I think you are referring to a TapPap Nasal mask

CPAP is the gold standard for treatment of sleep apnea. Your first action should be to optimize your CPAP therapy. To start this process, register in the forum, fill out your equipment profile ( https://www.cpaptalk.com/ucp.php?i=prof ... pment_info ) and post again in this thread to get a good dialogue started.

There are many experienced forum members who can help with making mask and headgear more comfortable. They know lots of tricks or fixes.

Gramps and I each spent $1700 on custom-made mandibular advancement devics (MADs). We each had the same results - ineffective, extremely uncomfortable and now, languishing in a drawer.

Do you think something in your mouth will be more comfortable than straps on your head?
