How to buy new headgear/mask

Post by renne2001 » Thu Mar 16, 2017 11:26 am

I haven't bought a new headgear/mask for about 3 years (only on my 2nd one, but it's sort of in tatters) - I just get new nose things and hoses, which are cheap. I don't understand what has happened to the industry. It used to be the stuff was covered under Medicare and my advantage plan with private ins. All the online companies react like scalded cats if you mention Medicare. What gives? How do you buy this stuff anymore? Seems like compliance doesn't enter into the equation.

I used to have to pay a deductible or copay, but that wasn't very much. The bulk of the cost was covered by Medicare/insurance. It's as though CPAP has become the new DME outcast like hearing equipment has always been. Lots of room for scammers and crooks I guess.

Does anyone have any comments?

Medicare enforces the rule that once you hit 65, you should not see, hear, or have solid food.
Use my link to find providers, by zip code.
Increase search radius if needed.
The green "M" indicates those who are contracted to accept Medicare price as total payment.
