The past 2 weeks I have been playing with my new DreamStation Auto. The first night
I used it in cpap mode set to 14 cm. My AHI was 6.55 and RERA of .97. Then I changed
it to auto set between 10 and 18 , That lets me have an average AHI about 2 but my
average RERA is about 4.5 . Is a RERA that high any cause for concern ?

Re: RERA
How's your sleep quality? Sleeping soundly or a lot of little wake ups?
If you are feeling good and sleeping good then the RERAs probably aren't a big deal.
If they bug you too much they usually will respond to just a little more minimum pressure...like change the 10 to 11 or thereabouts.

Re: RERA
When you went from a straight pressure of 14 cm to a variable pressure of min 10 cm to max 18 cm it allowed the machine to use additional pressure as needed which decreased your AHI. But the min of 10 cm is allowing the beginning of obstructions to happen but not develop into hypopneas or obstructions. They will probably decrease if you put the min. a little closer to your cpap pressure. Start with a 1 cm increase and evaluate.
But like Pugsy said your sleep quality is as important as the numbers.

I think what she's saying that your new settings are downgrading what would have otherwise been an apnea or a hypopnea to a RERA. Thus, you're not having a new problem. It's just that you're not recognizing an old one in its diminished state due to the face that it has been given a different name.
