Aftermarket Filter for Dreamstation.

Post by RestlessinWoolley » Tue Feb 14, 2017 10:59 pm

Well my DME strikes again. I'm so glad I'll be done with them soon. Anyone have Sunset Healthcare Filters? They are garbage and just a few pennies less then the OE filters.

Since replacing the filter and the mask pillow last month I have had nothing but issues with VS2 and snore events even while I am awake. Well I believe I solved it. Because these Aftermarket Filters for the OEM pollen filter fit so poorly I must of pushed a bit too hard and snapped one of the tension arms on the pollen filter and when I changed it and the little piece fell into the intake.

Like I said they barely fit the OEM pollen filter.

Push it together and it pops out. I had to take a razor to trim excess material away to get them to snap together. And with the missing arm on the filter my filter rattles in the holder so I am guessing that is what the machine is sensing or it was the tiny arm in the intake rattling. So frustrated right now. Now I have a hunk of wood holding the filter tight in its slot.

I'm glad to have talked to the DMEPOS lady and was told how I need to change to a different supplier as I'm not in a bid area. Norco here i come because I'm sure I'll be getting a different machine after the ASV study

No problems to report with authentic filters for the DreamStation (except that I have to replace the "reusable" one more frequently than is covered).

I'd be surprised that something in the intake would end up causing the machine to think there's snores, since snores are tracked as a low frequency vibration in the output air flow, measured after the fan, by the flow sensor.

I spose it's possible, will look forward to whether your problem disappears with a new filter.

I just ordered a new pollen and Fine form Aeroflow. OEM not this aftermarket and I'll just pass on filters at replenish. That way of I have to return the machine next month they can't quibble over not having the proper filter in it and not my taped in one. Every time I exhale was hearing something but now with it secured with tape that odd noise isn't there.

Assuming that the supplies and the CPAP come from the same provider, they're hardly in a position to complain about the "counterfeit" filter that they sent you. I would let them send filters anyhow, as I suspect that they will eventually be forced to send authentic ones.

I have found that even switching providers they all want to sell the aftermarket stuff. So I have let them know right up front that I will only accept OEM products. When they tell me they are equivalent replacements I let them know if they were the parts would fit w/o any troubles. If they send them again I call back and ask for replacements again for that order.

If I have to get a different machine next month I am switching DMEs because of my current DMEs are not to CS Friendly, plus they call from restricted numbers making me think they are a sales call. The Sunset Filters and I laugh as it says Dream Station Style. I was chatting with another person with the same machine and She was given the same filters for hers an her Husband had to modify the pollen filter as well they fit so poorly, apparently they fit their Pollen Filter Poorly as well..lol I just spent the $12 and got a new Pollen since the tabs broke, and a 2 pack of the Fine filters. I can hear a distinct noise difference in the machine at idle with the OEMs in and the OEM Pollen and sunsets Fine filter. but the machine still passes the performance check. It runs far quieter, but now with tape holding the filter in place I no longer hear a click on exhale as the filter isn't rattling in place. I'm just a target for bad luck I guess..lol. The new DME i will switch to after the next test, has already told me they don't bother with the aftermarket filter for the dream machine anyway as the sunset filter is $9.50 for 2 and the Dream Machine OEM in $10 for 2. Saying if Medicare quibbles over 50 cents, they'd pay the difference.. Aeroflow/ Cheap Cpap Supplies is a really good site if you need to get stuff out of pocket, that medicare doesn't cover..
