Periodic breathing concern

Post by Daniel Mielke » Fri Feb 03, 2017 2:48 pm

I have been on Cpap for about 3 years now. Periodic breathing had always been 0 or at the most 1% . They have increased dramatically in the last month. Highest was 31%. Last night my periodic breathing was 26% and my AHI jumped to 13.4. For three years it never my AHI went above 5. Is this something to be concerned about?

When I saw the dr. he looked at the reading for the whole year and said I was doing great! I was a bit surprised and mentioned the spike. he then went back and got a reading for the last two weeks and came back and said he will monitor it for a month. But he didn't say anything about if it was ok or not ok. I have been having a Lot of health issues since a severe reaction to the flu shot in December of 2015 when I went deaf, blind, reactive arthritis when my auto immune system went nuts and have had hundreds of myalgias a day since.. My AHI and Periodic breathing was not affected at all, UNTIL now. I am getting therapy for my upper neck and cervical spine issues which resulted from the inflammation of that flu shot. Because the Periodic breathing is a mind to lung issue, It has caused me some concern. Wish doctors let us know what they are thinking. I don't want to wake up "dead" if there is something that could be done.

You need to do the detailed image from one night. The overview and statistics stuff doesn't really help.
Like this

And also do a separate screen shot zoomed in on the Green PB flagged breathing...zoom in real close..like this.
Include CA events if you can.

For some reason I can't see your image embedded...is it just me? Or is everyone having that problem? It might be my internet acting up.

On the Imgur screen like this one. Choose the large thumbnail and then copy the bottom link that I have circled in red into your post.

Well for right now we can deal with what you are getting. When you get a chance reread the link with the instructions.

Look at your screen and see the calendar. On the triangle by the date click on it and it will close. We don't need it and the info below is important.

You can drag the graphs and reorder them. The important ones are Events, Flow Rate, Pressure, Leaks, Flow Limitation

You did get the zooming, but we need to see individual waves on the flow rate graph. That is your breathing. So if we could see a segment of your Partial Breathing time and CA's zoomed in like the one in Pugsy's example.

Don't get discouraged, you will get it.

FYI: My original sleep study, prior to going on the cpap machine, showed that I had 81 episodes an hour with each episode running between 30 to 60 seconds.

By episodes I think you are talking about AHI. What type and amounts of events made up your AHI? Obstruction, Hypopnea, and Centrals.
What type of machine make and Model are you using? This link shows you how to put that in your profile and it will show at the bottom of each of your posts. That way it is easier for others to respond with helpful information. wiki/index.php/Registering_Equipment_in_User_Profile

Regarding what kind of episodes i originally had. The Dr. said I had both types of apnea. I know I had a more of the obstructive and less of the central. I don't even know what the third one you mentioned is.
