Need help for my CPAP room

Post by esel » Mon Jan 23, 2017 7:20 am

Having a very small bedroom I thought I could set it up under CPAP.

I sealed it well to reduce all air leaks. I drilled a hole to the next room where I installed the CPAP and hooked it up to the hole.
In theory, if the leaks are not larger than the one from the mask it should work, no?

As it did not work too well I added a ventilation system to maintain a positive air pressure in the room to compensate for leaks.

It did not really improve. Somehow the air volume in the small room maybe to big compared to the air volume in the hose and the recordings on the CPAP were drowned, flat. To reduce the extra air in the small room I filled it with books. Lots of books. I ended up having a room that looked more like a sarcophagus. But still no big improvement.

I then thought that my strong aerophagia could be the problem , compressing air in the digestion track and non synchronized release, and that my CPAP mostly recorded theses. ?

Any advice to make it work? Thanks

Well, if esel is not writing satire, he needs to know that sealing the room, drilling holes to the next room, is not necessary. It works right once you are masked up, the machine is on, and set to the right pressures, etc. My bedroom is not sealed, the door is open all day and all night, and has worked correctly every night.

Now using AirFit F10 mask; Quattro Air is backup mask. RemZzzz mask liners with both.

This may be satire but someone needs to let esel know with this design he won't be able to exhale... so time for Engineering Change 1.1

Dang, I'm going out to the garage and figure how I can weld my recliner to my bicycle.

Simple, your box is too big, build a box your head will fit into, put your head into it seal all the leaks around your head, vent the box at a rate of 38 LPM, hook your CPAP hose to the box you are good to go, or put the cpap mask on your face.

CPAP works be the pressure in your airway being higher than the pressure around your body, your problem Silly Rabbit, is your set up the pressure is the same on your airway and chest, that won't help your airway to remain open. Jim

Use the CPAP as it's ment to be used, your mousetrap is flawed.

OK ok, I see that a CPAP room was stupid. I must have special talent. At least I hope one day to understand how CPAP works. Right now it seems more like art then science.

Thanks for great comments. I know there must be some intelligent life somewhere Granny. No?

We have Walnuts and Hazelnuts, no Pecans. Squirrels eat and use them for hibernation. There are lots of animals, bears, marmots, turtles that can hibernate. Is there something I missed ?

I have to admit I do not like the mask. I have read skin and now psoriasis apeared where the mask applies. I slowly get used to the air blowing in my eyes but the main problem is waking up so often from the noise it makes on leaks.

Hi Goofproof, can I borrow your screen ? I only have a flat screen !

I am not a Rabbit ? I am a Donkey. Translate ESEL from German.

How about a motorbike helmet seal it for air leaks, drilled a hole and hook it up to the CPAP. Would it work ?
Any advice for setting EPAP and PS to reach the 38 LPM ?

Thanks, there is hope.

CPAP works because there is a differential in air pressure. Inside body pressure is higher than outside, that keeps passages open. Put a bag on your head and pressurize it, it works, maybe. Many passage collapses happen in the throat. Sealing even neck to head pressure defeats purpose. Pressurize the whole body, no change.

Donkey in American translates to ASS.
