Windows 10 and Rescan

Post by sleepy1235 » Wed Jan 18, 2017 6:28 am

If someone can give me some information on how to get Rescan to work with Windows 10 please privately message me. I haven't looked at my sleep data since Windows 8 and this morning I discovered I no longer can.

For me, ResScan works the same in Windows 10 as it did in Windows 7 (I skipped Win 8 ). Do you want to tell us a little more about what's happening? Do you have ResScan installed? Does it load? If it does load, what happens after you open it? How does it not work?

If you want to install the latest version of ResScan, you can get it by following this link to ApneaBoard. You must register with ApneaBoard. Follow their instructions and a link will be sent by email.

I am using ResScan on this laptop that used to have Windows 8.1 on and I upgraded it to Windows 10 last summer and I didn't have to do anything to ResScan to make it work.
So it will work...more information is needed as to why ResScan won't work for you and where you are having your problem and what kind of problem.

Thanks for the replies. I have used the software with Windows 7, 8.1 also.

So it must be something else.

Message on CPAP says SD Error so something must have happened to it.

Is the ResMed machine a S9 model?

If you have a S9 machine see this thread
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=112668&p=1085125&hi ... e#p1085125
Your problem may not be with ResScan but with the S9 and that little pesky file that Windows 10 puts on the SD card that the S9 doesn't like.

I do it all the time...forget to lock the SD card because for years I used Windows 7 and didn't have to mess with locking the card. Then I have to either remove that pesky file for the S9 to accept the SD card or I just let the S9 erase the card and start all over.

If you want to erase the pesky file...here's how I do it. It requires DOS like work but not all that hard once you do it a couple of times.

rmdir "System Volume Information" /s /q
at the contents of the SD card window hold down the shift key and right click mouse...and choose Open command window and past the above in the black window.
What I do is copy the command line I have highlighted in color then I go to the SD card and open it with the command line and then I paste that line into the DOS window and hit enter...then I promptly remove the SD card and go put it in the S9.

If you don't have a S9 and this isn't the problem then we need more details as to what is happening and what machine you are using.
The AirSense models don't seem to have this problem..seems to be just the S9 machines.
Erasing the SD card and starting over doesn't really hurt anything as long as you already downloaded to ResScan. The machine will put the summary data back on the SD card but you lose all the detailed past data files which would be in ResScan anyway.

Here are the instructions Pugsy is referring to:
More than likely, that is the problem.
Place your unlocked SD card in the computer. Follow the instructions below. Copy and paste the last line, as Pugsy said, at the Dos Prompt. If you get no error and another prompt appears, it worked.
Remove the card and put it pack in your CPAP.
Next time, lock the SD card before putting it in your computer, or be prepared to do this procedure anytime after you put your unlocked card into a Windows 10 machine. If you forget to lock the card before putting it in the computer, just go ahead and download your data and then do the procedure before removing the card to put back into your cpap. No big deal.
remstarcpap wrote: I think this procedure will work regardless. Hold down the shift key, and right click inside the Explorer window showing your SD card. Click on the option Open Command Window Here.

Now type this command into the black command window:

rmdir "System Volume Information" /s /q

Type it exactly as shown, with the quotes, and with a space before and after the /s and /q commands.

rmdir "System Volume Information" /s /q
