Anyone here use the new Resmed F20 mask...question for you
Anyone here use the new Resmed F20 mask...question for you
I just called my DME because I am thinking of switching to the F20. The lady that I spoke to told me to hold off on that mask for now. She said that every single customer that they gave it to has had the cushion rip across the top of the nose, something to do with different silicone. She said that the manufacturer is aware. If you wear one, have you had a ripped cushion issue? I'm just really up in the air with what mask I want right now, and I was leaning toward this one. They still have F10's in stock, so maybe I should just go with that for now.

F20 + My nose = fail ... I had some unusual pressure and irritation from top of my nose down at least halfway. It didn't work for me and I've stuck with my F10 for the time being. Nothing ripped but I wasn't using it all that long either. Now I'm wondering if something else was going on due to this "different silicone" you're describing.bambiying wrote:I just called my DME because I am thinking of switching to the F20. Re: Anyone here use the new Resmed F20 mask...question for you
I tried the mask and returned it. It did not rip, but it caused pain/redness on the bridge of my nose, and I did try different cushion sizes. That part slid up and down a bit when laying down, regardless of how I adjusted the headgear. They use nice sturdy materials for the other parts of the mask, then the top part seems flimsy -- presumably for comfort, but it just didn't work for me. I am very happy it came with return insurance.
As side points: the mask did seal pretty well otherwise. I cranked up the pressures to test it and it held together fine.

My wife has a cardiac pacemaker implant, For that reason and the magnetic strap closure I cannot take the chance of a wrong cuddle.
I realize that the risk is low, but it is not lower than none.

Now that I think of it the F20 does cause quite a bit of redness on the bridge of my nose

I've had mine for about 6 weeks, no issues with it at all. Easily my favorite full face mask.
No problems on the bridge of my nose at all. The "flimsy" part you speak of is designed that way on purpose, many other masks have a hard frame there which causes a lot of pain and irritation on the bridge of the nose for many people.raisedfist wrote:I tried the mask and returned it. My DME showed me the pile of ripped cushions that have come back from the F20. I decided to go with the F10 for now. Maybe in another 6 months I'll give the F20 a try when they iron out the kinks.

Hi There,
I had the same problem, the first time (it lasted 4 weeks) I thought it was me due to being a restless sleeper. so I bought a replacement cushion but 4 weeks later it did exactly the same thing.
at the price they are selling it they should get it replaced for free.

Tried both the F10 and F20. Hated both and took them back after one night. Leaked badly and created weird suction on my face.

Re: Anyone here use the new Resmed F20 mask...question for you
I've been using the exact same F20 headgear, frame, and mask for over a year at this point, and I've never had any part break or fail. It's just super uncomfortable and leaks, and the magnetic clasps take a lot of getting used to.
I will add that I have to tighten my mask down to where it's painful to get a good seal at my pressures (currently 14/10), so I know the silicon cushion is well used.

I have used the f20 mask for over a year. I have only torn one and that was when I first began to use it. Now the Airtouch with the foam I have torn numerous times and I have stopped using it. The f20 is very comfortable but I do have to pull on the lower straps tight to get a good seal.
I have tried other ffm and this one is by far the best for me.

Re: Anyone here use the new Resmed F20 mask...question for you
I've been using the F20 for several months and it's my favorite mask.
I had no problems, it never broke.
The mask doesn't lose air and doesn't irritate my nose.
I love it and I've already bought another one as a backup.
Perhaps a lot of faulty masks happened?

Maybe it's a supply of faulty masks?
It can happen that in the factory there is an accidental production of some faulty masks!

I started cpap about a month ago. I have ripped 2 already right by the nose. Got one exchanged for free going to get another one I hope exchanged tomorrow. Frustrating. Is the manufacture aware of this you think?
