Phillips System One Advanced - as a CPAP only device

Post by Freds » Mon Jan 16, 2017 12:19 pm

Hi Folks,

I have suffered with this horrible disease for over 15 years now. I was going to a really great Doctor, but I can no longer travel to him.

Through out the years my diagnoses has change from OSA to CSA to to mixed and some others. I have issues with masks causing compliance problems. I finally found a mask that I can use.

So I decided to get another sleep study, and get back on therapy. The sleep study showed that I have moderate OSA. So the docotor ordered a simple CPAP machine. I live in Jacksonville, FL and I am sorry to say that the medical community is severely lacking, so it took the Doc 1 month to sore the study and order a machine. I showed her my past studies and expressed concern that the simple CPAP machine may not be the best option. I also told her that I own Philips Respironics System One BiPAP autoSV Advanced (950P). She was unmoved. She forwarded the order to a DME. I called them, they said that they would get back to me 10 days.

Is there any way to set my machine for OSA ? I was told that this machine would treat OSA and CSA, so why can't I use it ? I have the provider manual, so I could set the machine myself.

I could really use some advice.

Thank you so much.

What pressure does the prescription call for?
It may be possible to set the ASV parameters to simulate a CPAP.

Yes, there is a way to manage the settings on the model 950 machine so that it works/functions like a regular cpap machine.
Fairly simple to do.
Set PS to 0
and minimums and maximums to equal the same number.
Should give you a fixed cpap pressure.
