Why can't I get my AHI down?

Post by zimm4er » Sat Jan 14, 2017 8:04 pm

Been on cpap since october 2016. Central sleep apnea leftover side-effect from a heart attack. I wear a full face mask because I mouth breath. Had lots of problems with leaking I felt but my resp therapist did not agree with me when he looks at my rescan data, which you know looks different than sleepyhead. Then his excuse was to wait till you see your doc and maybe he will make change. Doc doesn't have any idea. So here is my sleepyhead data. I thought I would try some different things. So I started wearing a chin strap, and that night my AHI was 3.65, which did not last the next night it went back up. I don't know if this is all a mask fit issue or what. Thanks for your input.

Can you post the reports showing what the pressure is doing during the nights?
The information in the reports you posted is rather limited.

Pressure is constant, 14 / 18

It is best to show the pressure, leaks, events, etc. all in the same chart.

you can order your charts by draging and droping them
Suggested Support Order for your charts
Event Flags
Flow Rate
Pressure
Leak Rate
Snore
Flow Limit

All of these can have an impact on your AHI

Your issue is Hypnoeas, you are not showing any other events, and you don't even have a lone for obstructive events. Are they turned off?
In your SleepyHead File/Preferences Events Tab ---- makesure all the events (left checkbox) are checked.
Then if you repost we can better see what is happening.

You are doing great. Sometimes it does seem complicated but there are certain graphs that tell us more than others. Use the link that Wulfman gave you to see what we need.
From what I saw before the links quit working, is that leaks don't seem to be a problem. You have some leaks but they are corrected pretty quickly.

I'll try and make posting easier
1. Take a screenshot and save it to your computer

1. Login to IMGUR, show your pictures, and from your directory grab the screen shot and drop it onto your IMGUR pictures. YourAccountname.imgur.com/all

1 Click on the picture you wish to post to the forum in IMGUR
The "Trick" is to click on both thumbnail size and Copyby Linked BBCode (message boards)

This is copied into your post.

Bonjour,
The Graph organization is important before the screen shot.

Zimm4er
What supplies most all the data needed, is the daily page with the detail tab on the left. Turn off the calender by clicking on the triangle by the date. Also the pie chart isn't needed. You can turn it off by going to File - Preferences - Appearance Then uncheck Show event breakdown pie chart.
Then
1. event flags
2. flow rate,
3. pressure,
4. leaks,
5. snores
6. flow limitations (ResMed machines)
You can resize and drag the graphs to get them in the order needed. If they all will not fit on one screen, you can do the first 4 then scroll up the last 2 for a second screenshot.

The big frequent spikes my leaks is just when I disconnect my hose so I can cough. Hard to cough sometimes with my pressures. Just have lots of postnasal drip, ENT knows about it, long story.
