Re: Questions about travelling to Australia with ResMed CPAP
What you can do when you get here is just buy the plug that plugs into the transformer (i.e. from the wall socket to the transformer pic below). That'll save you taking up a socket converter (i.e. $2 instead of $10 and a little easier). That's what I did - I bought my machine from the US and just us...

Re: Encountering some problems :-(
Well, last night was a bit worse again (and I'm feeling it today). Mouth was taped shut and tried hard to sleep on side (not sure whether I rolled over or not). I seem to have woken up a lot during the night too. Do I just keep trying to up the pressure? I can't believe I've gone from having great r...

Re: Encountering some problems :-(
Thanks folks. I am not aware of different sleeping positions - but I will dig out my wife's maternity pillow and prop myself up properly tonight. Do we think that I shouldn't bother taping my mouth shut? The explanation about low AHI with mouth breathing makes perfect sense to me - so maybe the surg...

Re: Encountering some problems :-(
Thank you OkyDoky and Guest I will put it up to a 9 tonight (and maybe try and reduce the EPR to zero - I haven't had it below a 1 ever, so not sure how that'll go!). Just so strange that there as suddenly such a severe change - things were going really nicely then suddenly went from like 1-2 to 5-7...

Re: Encountering some problems :-(
Hi everyone - thanks for all the help/advice (and thanks mrpatwik/guest) - maybe it isn't mouth breathing, I just can't see why else it would suddenly go from great to back to day one. Anyway, since my original post, I have: - ruled out an issue with the machine (that was just a wild coincidence); -...

Re: Encountering some problems :-(
I just had a nap with the min set at 8 - which was fine to tolerate, so I'll go 8.5 or 9 tonight and see how that works out (the nap rolled into last night's numbers, so not sure what my AHI was). Question though - is there any way to tell if I've started breathing through my mouth during the night,...

Re: Encountering some problems :-(
Thanks for the reply. I will try an 8 (or higher if I can) tonight and see what happens. I am not sure that'll help though, as the machine was set by the tech at 6-16 when I got it. I was getting great AHI at a min of 6, but increased it to 7 as I wasn't feeling like 6 gave me enough of a breath whi...

Re: Encountering some problems :-(
Update - so I tried the trial machine again last night and my AHI was in the 7s - so at least I have ruled out an issue with my own machine, it just seems to be a coincidence that something else changed since I swapped them over. I have no idea what it could be really - but that's been 6 nights of A...

Re: After your initial diagnosis did you get to meet w/a Dr.?
- Did any of you meet with a Doctor specializing in sleep after initially being diagnosed? - Is it normal to be well into CPAP therapy and never meet with a MD specializing in sleep? - Did anyone go over your detailed, full sleep study with you or just give you a summary? 1. Yes, I suppose. I did t...

Re: Encountering some problems :-(
I don't see any reason for the difference ... try turning the machine upside down hehe - thanks mate! I have no idea what it could be - but it must be something. Pre-Sunday, I had brilliant AHI - swap machine, and I have rubbish AHI and feel equally rubbish! I spoke to the people I am doing the tri...

Encountering some problems :-(
[Edit - now know issue isn't related to change of machines, but still don't know why AHI so high - I have gone from AHI of less than 2 for three months to between 5 and 7]. Hi everyone! So, I did a PAP trial from mid-October and was lucky enough to feel the difference immediately. On the trial, my A...

Re: Two questions from a newbie
I reckon I struggled along for about a year being tired all the time before my wife forced a dr appointment on me! I'm sure my sleep has never really been great - but not to the point that I noticed anything during the day. Regardless - you are doing the right thing seeing a doctor. Then no doubt a ...

Re: Sore nose - nasal pillow mask
Hi all, Any tips for preventing irritated skin just under the nostrils with a nasal pillow mask? I'm only a few days in and so far so good, just noticing the skin is a bit irritated under my nostrils in the morning. Is this indicacative of a fit issue? If not, I'd love your suggestions for symptoma...
