Clear Air apneas clustered over short time

Post by Ubik_2017 » Fri Jan 06, 2017 6:15 am

I'm a new CPAP user (entering my second month). Just received a Respironics machine last week (been using it for 8 days now) and started using SleepyHead software around the same time to understand what's going on.

Here is my question: Last night my AHI was 4.4 but mostly because I had 22 'Clear Airway' events last night. What concerns me is that 12 of the 22 events happened within 20 minutes (from 3:26 am to 3:45 am). I think it may have to do with changing positions. I was told that I have more events when I sleep on my right and I usually go to bed on my left (I sleep on my side or on my stomach) but know that turn to the right at some point at night. Also wondering if it has to do with restless REM events.

I'm going to try to sleep first on my right tonight to assess body position but would like the collective wisdom of the forum for insight (my wife is very concerned about the notion of Central Apnea).

Cheers,

Joe Chip

I'd give it another few days at least to see if the problem repeats, especially if you think it was likely due to changing positions.
