rental machine?
rental machine?
I think my wife could benefit from a cpap, does anybody have a machine that I could rent to see what results we get. I don't have the money to do a study and all that. Thanks Michael

Re: rental machine?
I do have my extra Phillips 960P bipap, could it be set to run as an auto cpap?

You would prob do better to find one near you on Craigslist to buy.Hornnumb2 wrote:I think my wife could benefit from a cpap, does anybody have a machine that I could rent to see what results we get. I don't have the money to do a study and all that. Thanks Michael

The BiPAP Auto SV has a CPAP mode. It's not ideal for titration since pressure is fixed. I think a simple screening using something that can record blood oxygen saturation at night would be a better tool to see if the problem needs to be addressed further. Even some of the fitness monitors can do this. A recording oximeter that fits on the wrist is just over $100. The fingertiip models like CMS50D are under $35.
I have to say, this is your wife. Home studies are cheap. You should do this right.

Re: rental machine?
I second the idea of getting a low cost oximeter and determining if she is having oxygen lows. I thought for sure my Mom had apnea because of her snoring, but the 02 meter showed that she was at 97% at the lowest all night. Turns out that her snoring is primarily positional, so adding some cushioning to her mattress and getting a new pillow eliminated the snoring.
