Can't see data on SD card (AirSense 10) for SleepyHead

Post by MarkWill » Sun Oct 23, 2016 8:13 pm

This might be a bit of a technical question but maybe someone can save me some time.

I have a new AirSense 10 AutoSense (a whopping three days of use). I'm seeing data reported to MyAir just fine but, based on comments here, want to use SleepHead. I don't have an SD card reader in my PC or laptop (I haven't used a card like this for years). What I do have is a Canon G16 camera which takes an SD card. I can plug the AirSense card into that, plug it into my PC and can happily see the card. Except... it's empty i.e. File Explorer can't see any data on the card.

Is the data hidden in some way (I am showing hidden files in Explorer, but no luck).

Frustratingly, even though File Explorer sees the card just fine, SleepyHead doesn't so I can' t import directly from that.

Any suggestions on how to get around this? I REALLY don't want to have to buy a silly card reader when I have one in my camera By the way, I can transfer files back and forth to my camera just fine, using a regular SD card.

Thanks.

Mark

Does File Explorer see the Datalog folder on the SD card?
SleepyHead doesn't so I can' t import directly from that.
First suggestion: Are you selecting the Datalog folder or the SD card itself when you are trying to import the data? You need to select the SD card and NOT the Datalog folder itself for the location of the data to import.

If that doesn't work, then my next guess is that the way the SD card is mounted to the file system when it is inserted into the camera is somehow "different" than the way it is mounted to the file system when the SD card is inserted into an SD card reader that inserts into a USB port.
Any suggestions on how to get around this?
If File Explorer can see the Datalog folder on the SD card, then you can copy the Datalog folder to your computer's hard drive. You will need to have an inclosing "folder" around the Datalog folder. You then can import the data from the folder that contains the Datalog folder.

Afraid not. File Explorer shows a completely empty card. I have a technical background so have been trying to figure a way to mount the card directly, but no luck so far. That said, I have no particular evidence that the card is mounted differently through the camera so I am not yet convinced that, for whatever reason, the card isn't just empty.

I will continue to research.

Thank you for the response, robysue.

Yes, that's fair. I am also sat at my PC right now and wanting to see my data

Joking aside, getting a card reader may well be the next step and that's fine. But I want to be sure that there's not another issue, perhaps with the card itself. It's not clear to me why I can't browse the contents from File Explorer (in the past I have used this camera for this purpose without issues - it's "just" a reader, in that context, but happens to have a lens and stuff ). It seems weird to me that Explorer can see the SD card but can't see what's on it.

Thanks.

it also may be preferable to plugging your camera in to transfer images.... besides, it's nice to have options.

there's no reason I know of that would keep the airsense10 from writing its data on the card. unless the card is locked.
