Quick question on Airfit F10

Post by Omne » Wed Aug 24, 2016 6:27 pm

Just wanted to ask if the large size cushions are wider at the base than the medium ones or are they just longer?

I'm not really sure... but I think they are longer rather than wider. I use the medium AirFit F10, and prior to the F10 when I first started this journey, I was using Quattro Air, which uses the same cushion. While on the Quattro, I switched to small from medium, thinking it might work better... and woke up in the morning with the bottom of the mask, including the frame, in my mouth! I switched back to medium and it worked for me after that. I only switched to the F10 when it came out because it doesn't have the forehead strap, but could see that otherwise it fits the same. Could be that the width changes proportionally to the length as well.

Perhaps your DME could help you by measuring the height and width of each so you can compare with yours.

The medium cushion width is 4 5/8". The large is 4 3/4".

I've written before about how IMO the F10 cushions are too narrow at the bottom. A lot of older people like me have creases in the corners of their mouth and this can be create leak problems. BTW, my mouth is not very wide, it would definitely be considered pretty normal size by anybody's standards, even on the smallish side. I can't see why ResMed can't make them a bit wider... of course they'd have to retool their plastic and silicone injection molds, so that's probably not going to happen.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
