Hmm $200 for a respironics 60s AVAPS?

Post by klv329 » Sat Feb 13, 2016 1:28 pm

This might be a respironics 60 series AVAPS for $200. Has 3,833 hours on it. Maybe an okay back up machine? Therapy hours have been reset at some point. Maybe a second owner?

As always with these kind of deals:
Try to get some screen shots of the clinician's menu. Also, use PayPal. State that you or a close friend want to pick the machine up in person (even if you have no intention of doing that)...usually the bad guys will not want to deal with you in that case. Getting the machine's back-story is often a helpful tool... you can usually weed out rip-off artists since they tend to botch their attempts at sincerity.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Not sure what those AVAPs do, something about target volume? Not sure if that would be an improvement over an ASV model.

This looks like a European Resmed S9 Adapt for $250 -- it looks like it says Autoset CS on top and Pacewave below the start button. Maybe needs an adapter, or maybe it works with a US power brick. Dunno.

AVAPS Automatic Volume Assured Pressure Support.

I don't have a respironics avaps guide, but this passage from the resmed manual will probably suffice for an idea:
"iVAPS is designed to maintain a preset target alveolar minute ventilation by monitoring delivered ventilation, adjusting the pressure support and providing an intelligent backup breath automatically."

VAPS machines are much more complicated to set up and get right, ASV machines are a piece of cake by comparison.

VAPS also target other conditions than ASVs do.
