New PAP won't let me set correct time!

Post by dvejr » Fri Feb 12, 2016 1:46 pm

My new Airsense 10 arrived yesterday. Thought I set the date and time correctly before I went to sleep, but I see now that it is an hour fast.

When I tried to change time from the displayed 12:30 to the correct 11:30, the cheeky machine has the gall to tell me that "the time cannot be set in the past"!

Anyone ever seen something like this?

Doug

This is what the manual says.
If you set a new time that occurs in the past then an error message is
displayed. Before this change can be made, erase the compliance data
available under the Configuration menu.
If you have any compliance data on the SD card you might want to save that data. Then you have to erase the data from the machine and SD card. You do this by going into the clinical settings menu - Configuration.

A) Thanks very much!
B) What a stupid paradigm.... Erase all my data to change the clock? Happy - really, really happy - I discovered this on Day Two and not on Day Eighty-seven!!

Yes it is. I believe it has something to do with preventing people from trying to use the clock to falsify their compliance but I'm not sure. Respironics has a clock set at the factory and cannot be set by the user.

wait until the machine rolls over to a new day (noon by it's clock) and then you can set the time back.

you just can't set the time back when there is data for that day.

Thanks PR, I was getting information from the manual and other users. My own machine has been off 10 minutes and I got the same message but it really didn't matter to me so I left it that way. I just went back and changed mine like you said. So now I have 1st hand experience.

I'm pretty sure I got that from posts here on the forum, not out of one of the manuals

you just can't set the time back when there is data for that day.
What the machine won't allow you to do is set the clock back in time before the last minute for which you have data. For instance if the machine thinks it was 9 AM January 1 when you last used the machine, you can't set the clock back before 9 AM Jan 1.

If your clock is 1 hour ahead, turn the machine off and don't use it for a little over an hour. After that, you can set the time back one hour. Even easier, just turn the machine off when you get up, and then try to set the clock back before going to bed, you'll probably never see the problem.

No need to erase your data unless you've got a big time jump to make.

BTW, you can always set the clock forward without resetting data.

Source: I've dealt with this several times with my S9 AutoSet for DST changes and have experimented with the possible changes. I presume the A10 models do the same.
