Hello everyone, just trying to figure out what is the replacement frequency on a mask or nasal pillow? I have had my Resmed airfit p10 for over a year. I keep it very clean, but I am thinking of replacing it. Also is there a better nasal mask than a p10?
Thanks!

My DME recommends every six months. Keep your old one though, I find they stretch a bit, and adjusting to a new one is a chore, an argument for either less or more frequent replacement depending on how you view it, replace before it stretches, or go through the adjustment period less often. The old ones also act as spares.

I'm partial to the P10 and haven't felt the need to try anything else. I do have other FF and nasal masks but They're just setting and waiting to be used. I have used my P10 for over a year and a half with one pillow change. The headgear is getting a little loose but I don't have leaks yet. That is what I am looking at to determine if I need to change, leaks and comfort. I use a unscented alcohol free baby wipe each morning and wash about every 1-2 weeks.

your DME recommends things to enhance it's profits... bear that in mind.kurth83 wrote:My DME recommends every six months. there really is no viable schedule, because different people seem to wear out the mask components faster than others. I have a vague memory of someone saying that they started out devoutly soap and watering the pillows every day... and wore them out in a few weeks. then they switched to wiping with a baby wipe, and they lasted for months.Dirtyhands0321 wrote:Hello everyone, just trying to figure out what is the replacement frequency on a mask or nasal pillow? I've got a year and a half on a p10, the headgear is getting a bit loose, but the pillow is working fine (very low leak rate).
I took a bit of fine velcro and stuck it along the outsides of the headgear from the mask and on up a few inches, that reduced the stretch.
I could replace it, but now I'm more curious in how long I can get one headgear to last

Re: How often to replace a mask or nasal pillow?
I've been using my P10 for about 18 months. The headgear and base are fine. I've changed the pillows about 3 times during this period. I've noticed that the newest set seem to be lasting longer since I keep them away from direct sunlight. With that said, I don't have any factual data to support my assumption.

Dirty pillows or cushions can be washed; but eventually, it starts looking and feeling "old".
Sometimes the funk won't wash out.
If leak rates get out of hand, you do whatever is needed. Your health is important.

I'm a noobie, but after 2 months of use I noticed some discomfort and small leaks. I canged out the pillow. The new pillow was a noticeable upgrade. P10 nasal pillows. Mask and head gear are fine 3 months in.
