Changing mask from PR TrueBlue gel to Airfit P10

Post by Lupon » Sat Feb 06, 2016 7:00 am

This is my first post, but I regularly have read the forum in this last year and I learned a lot of important informations from you. Thanks to all!

Now I have a question:
I purchased a week ago a AirFit P10 mask, coming from a TrueBlue gel.

Can somebody help me configure my PRSO for Airfit P10?
(PRSO Remstar Auto A-Flex model 561P)

At present my configuration is as follows for a TrueBlue gel Mask:

User Mode actually CPAP
Pressure 8.5 fixed (when in APAP mode pressure is from 8.5 to 10)
Flex type C-flex, x3
Ramp not used
Circuit type diameter 22, not heated
SystemOne resist. 0

The AirFit P10 has its own hose 40cm in lenght with a diameter of 18mm: I think that this hose have a loss that must be added to the set already acting.

Is the SystemOne Resistance the parameter I must change? and at which value?

With TrueBlue mask my AHI was about 5 in the above mentioned configuration.
With the same configuration but with AirFit P10 my AHI is decreased till to 1.
Fantastic, but it is true?

Thanks in advance to all
PS Sorry for my English!!

The System One Resistance settings are mainly for Respironics masks.
In general when using a non Respironics mask we are told to turn off the Resistance Control setting which would mean a setting of 0.
I don't think that the Resistance setting is the issue and it would be difficult to match up your ResMed mask with a similar Respironics mask with similar resistance...resistance isn't the same as vent rate. You can play with the settings x1 or x2 and see if it feels different or produces different results. It's not something that is a big issue with the mask and pressure.
The hose setting is for the 6ft hose and the P10 hose is part of the mask. The P10 is such a quiet light mask maybe you just slept better and had a good AHI.

Thanks OkyDoky for your reply.

Following your message I have better investigate the case and I have found some new information.

PR Trueblue Gel Manual state SystemOne Resistance is X1.
I cannot understand why the original setting of my APAP (which I never touched) was at zero.

Searching in Google for manuals for respironics masks similar to Airfit P10, I found that PR Nuance is very similar to Airfit P10 and its relevant manual say SystemOne Resistance must be X2.
In the following page I found that it has a pressure drop too much greater than Airfit, so probably the correct setting for Airfit should be (X1+X2)/2 because pressure drop within the Airfit mask is greater than Trueblue but smaller than Nuance.

In conclusion, waiting for asking to my Medicalk staff, I will set X1 for both mask...
