Nuance / Nuance Pro Nasal Pillow - positives and negatives?

Post by EmilySleeps » Fri Feb 05, 2016 1:25 am

I'm contemplating trying the Nuance or Nuance Pro nasal pillow with gel. Those of you who have used it, does it tend to stay in place better due to the gel? I'm currently using the Airfit for Her and really like the light weight, but the pillows keep getting dislodged when I sleep on my side and cause a huge rush of air. (Also, the face straps tend to ride up onto my eyes.) Any reactions from users, pro or con, would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I haven't tried the Nuance mask but I was wondering if a barrel cozy would stabilize the pillows some on your P10 and the strap covers help to stabilize my side pieces. http://padacheek.com/PACAirFitSeries.html
I do wear it with both straps at the back of my head so that maybe why they don't ride up. If you have tried all this maybe someone else will comment on your question.

When I was using a medium size pillow with the P10, the pillows kept getting dislodged also. I dropped down a size to the small and it never happened again. Could be that when you are using the correct size pillow the straps won't ride up close to your eyes. Experiment a little before you give up on the P10; it's such a comfortable mask.

I use both. When I am at home I use the Pro. When I travel I use the other.

The issue is that the gel pads can fall off. When I am at home that is no big deal but when I am traveling it could be.

I started off with the Swift FX so the silicon gel is not uncomfortable. I will report that the short hose on the Nuance and Nuance Pro lasts much longer than the one on the Swift FX. I went through a bunch of hoses on the Swift and have never had a failure with the Nuance.

I have used the Nuance Pro and like it's feel, but don't particularly like the fact that the silicone pillows fall off after a little time. They DO help the nasal pillow stay in one place and keep it from dislodging as frequently when I move in my sleep, but I can't afford to keep replacing the frame (about $40) because of the pillows falling off. Some people have glued them back on with good results. The manufacturer needs to do something about the design- maybe mold the silicone strap and then mold the gel on top of it in a mold or something and avoid using glue that gets old and falls apart.
